Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey: Intro and my bike...

Hey, I'm a newbie to road bikes, and specifically single speeds. I race supermoto motorcycles so pedal power isn't my normal thrill, I normally do a lot of mountain bike miles as fitness for racing!

My ride... This bicycle found me: It belongs to my Grandfather before he passed away a few years back. It was left to rot in a garage. I have given it a fresh chance as a bicycle again, so look forward to getting a lot of miles gathered on it.

Here it is, before and after:

Thanks!

I dunno man, not to be a downer or anything, but I think it looked better in the before picture. A good cleaning, some new rubber, new grips and maybe a nice leather saddle of some sort probably would have given you a super solid cruisin' around town bike.

But hey, it's your bike and I hope you enjoy it.

ps - all the snobs around here will tell you to take your pics from the drive side from now on

Interesting transformation! Nice to see a bike with some family history.

In my opinion, you will probably want to upgrade to a more modern crankset (square taper, or otherwise) at some point as those cotter pins can be a pain to deal with. https://sheldonbrown.com/cotters.html

What kind of supermoto bike do you have?

Bikes: Critical Cycles 57 Fixie

I dig the color scheme. It's got a classic British racing vibe. Welcome to the forum.
