i remember someone who had some sort of kinky leather lace-up thing to protect their frame, which i thought was cool. (i think i saw it in the "ss/fixie photos" thread)
other than that, boo.

by the way, what do you all think about handlebar streamers? i'm thinking about manufacturing them.

a crocheted one on the other hand, that sounds kinda cool, and streamers, HELL yeah!

i used one to save my flesh from my top tube cable guides when i'd throw my bike on my shoulder. then i just decided to saw off the guides. pad went bye bye after that.

Looks like a BMX handlebar pad, actually.
Personally I think they're kind of corny. Sort of a "HARDCORE" statement. It's not to say they aren't useful (nice for lockup, for example), I can just think of some less tacky ways to accomplish the same feat.
But then it ain't the end of the world, either.

I don't have one because i try to keep my fixie simple, just like it was designed to be. And i think they take away from the overall shape of the bike. My paint job isn't THAT shy.

Wrap it with a bit of electrical tape and you're ready to go. Protects the whole top tube while my bike is on the train. When I have my good bike I carry a couple of little pads for the seatstays as well.

I paid 25 cents for my pad. I would have gone as high as 50 cents, but I am a good negotiator. It says Team Murray X220 on it, which is kind of a lie because my bike is not a Team Murray. Damn I hate Murrays; huffys are soooo much better.

Also, as far as top-tube pads being useful, I commute on the cal-train every day, and there are a ton of ****ers who do not give a rat's ass about anyone's bike. My green bike(the one without a pad) has all kinds of nicks and dings from various bikes being piled on top of it. Bottom line, if you have to rack up next to (read: on top/bottom of) a bunch of other bikes, it doens't hurt to have a little protection if you value your bike's paintjob.

I made my frame protector with a piece of cork bar tape and some vinyl electrcal tape.
I also made a hub cleaner from one of my old leather toestraps.
Enjoy
