stripped chrome pista
#80
I haven't seen much in the way of pitting or rusting and I didn't clear coat. Although it has seen just Cally street dust, and Minnesota rainwater. If I lived near the ocean I'd be concerned about the salt pitting the faux chrome finish.

yeah i am in california, i guess i'll probalby end up clear coating, the krylon brand clear coat that stickerguy used the best one to use? i mean id prefer the shiny glossy look of the chrome but if it will eventually get worn down without clear coat id rather just protect it.
any suggestions?

Doing it right now! AHH! It's going slow, I got something like JASCO, unfortunately it isn't as strong so A LOT of coats are required. And i wanted to do the entire frame because the Bianchi clear coat is so murky... it looks better when you do your own.
Will post pics when I finish tonight.

Hey,
Why did you decide to clear coat the chrome on your pista?
Do you know what will remove stickers without hurting a powder coated frame?
If you have not upgraded yet, I would recommend the "Pake" frames from merry sales.

I know the thread has been dead for at least 3 months, but I thought I would share my results the process. Worked like a charm! I didn't use the goo gone, but instead steal wool with soap and the residual **** came off without much hassle. I have yet to apply any clearcoat, but I got to say, my pista is looking sweet.

Slather your bike in paint remover. I used Jasco. Let it sit until the clearcoat gets all crystally/bubbly. Scrape it off. I used a credit card. When it gets on your hands, watch with amazement as your skin turns red and starts to burn from the inside out. Repeat.
