"De Benardi high speed racing bike. Will need work done to it! The frame is a little bent, needs bike pedals, new rims, and gears, but the frame is in great condition."

i almost want to offer them like $5 to just take it from them so no one gets ripped off but i doubt they will go for it

Hi speed racing bike

The contact info is different and the ads were posted 4 days apart.
My guess is someone bought the bike for $100 based off the first ad (no mention of bent frame, just "wobbly wheels").

Then after a few days the second buyer realized the bike needs a LOT more work than expected after seeing the bent frame, and relisted the bike for $25 cheaper.

I would have loved to see the exchange (phone/email) between these two after the purchaser realized the whole frame was bent.

Hi speed racing bike

I'm not sure the bike is even worth $5.

$75 might not be too bad if someone's in need of some olde Campy brifters, cassette, maybe Campag hubs if lucky and couple of other odds-and-ends. Assuming that stuff all works and is in good shape.

Best part, "The frame is a little bent, needs bike pedals, new rims, and gears, but the frame is in great condition." Clearly has a bent chainstay, but it's in great condition

That clearance makes me a little skeptical of that claim of "never crashed."

Nice Vilano Road Bike Bycycle Needs Work

TejanoTrackie 01-20-16 08:21 PM

I used to have a built up Vilano frameset, that was just about the worst piece of crap imaginable. I stripped it for parts and threw it out with the trash.

veganbikes 01-21-16 12:27 AM

Are they giving you the Vilano and $40 or is $40 what it would cost them to bring it to the local recycler/scraper? I have seen a lot of Vilano's and they all suck out loud.

TimothyH 01-21-16 08:13 AM

Sorry to have upset you guys with bad memories from the past. Time heals all wounds. The pain never really goes away but only gets duller.

I don't need these but i'm tempted. If anyone in the Bay needs some new wheels the ceramic finish looks good with everything

obligatory Cdale track for sale post

Regulatori 01-24-16 10:55 PM

Lol at the dented Cannondale and asking $3500.

What a joke. I would maybe expect that kind of money if it happened to be a bike shop that found a NOS one in storage that's never been used.

pwebb 01-24-16 11:12 PM

it's a crazy world we live in. i'm guessing he's waiting for a $2000+ offer. he'll probably even get it if he's patient.

Bair 01-25-16 01:13 AM

From what i've heard the c tracks look amazing, but their ride quality isnt any superior to frames half their price.

pwebb 01-25-16 03:51 AM

cdale track vs colossi al colossione? pretty sure they have the same geometry. There are numorous Ave Maldea builds on pdlrm with cdale geo. You can get a "cdale track" for much less of the asking prices for the original ones. Even the Major Taylor Cdale track frames are $500-$600 used.

Original cdale tracks are 20-25 year old aluminum frames. if they have been ridden for most of their lives, especially on the street, i'd expect some wear and tear, so it's crazy that people are still buying them and riding them. from what i've seen frames like this one (ie not pristine) tend to get passed around for awhile, people will buy it to ride it for a bit then flip it and be able to say they rode a cdale track. then someone eventually ends up using it as wall art.
