Yup that's about it, purely cosmetic but I'm in no rush to drop a ton of money on them, they pop up on eBay for $20-35 every so often but for the past few months there haven't been any that aren't crazy expensive. If anything I'll get Rb021s but it's not the sameee. I'm pretty much content with my risers for now though

Oof those mavic logos don't really hold up on their handlebars.

Yeah, I've noticed, unfortunately

You sound like you know what you want so this is not meant to dissuade you in any way, but while we're on topic, the RB021 is the most uncomfortable handlebar to ever sit atop any of my bikes! Switched to an RB002 (after much experimentation in between) and couldn't be happier.

Not gonna lie, the MAIN reason I want pursuits is for looks. I actually did own them at one point and I hated them so I sold em to a friend, but they were untaped at the time and I'd be willing to try again. If they're really that bad I can just flip them again. Plenty of fixie fools in Chicago who'd want them for their Aventons and Thrones

Can I place a request in this thread? I'd love it if someone could let me know if they find a set of the old Mavic pursuits with the logo on them

These guys?

Mavic Bullhorn handlebars RARE

That is a nice-looking handlebar, I must say.

If he won't, send me the money to buy and ship them, and I will. I work in shipping, and get cheaper rates for stuff than the general public.

Can someone explain to me the pricing of this 3Rensho?
1992 3RENSHO 56 cm Track Frameset NJS Stamped Blue Sparkle | eBay
They're asking almost 3K for a bike with scratched up paint, multiple chips, rust spots, etc..

I could possibly expect that price if they found a brand new NOS frame in the back of some shop...but this is just your run of the mill condition used track bike.
Go on NJS-Export and you'll find 3Rensho's in the same condition going for a 1/3rd of that price.

What am I missing?

Any metallic blue frame made from 91 to 93 is worth between 2 and 3 thousand dollars automatically.

This guy is actually my friend haha

$profit$ is the answer; he flips them and has a buyer in Japan buying them for him on the cheap from keirin swaps

It's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

it'd be cool if this thread worked out more how thedapperest was able to use it just now. people post things they might be looking for and those of us who scour CL for stuff when we are bored can help them out if we find something locally. The fact that we almost have a built in friendly shipping system, as AndjaVXC just offered, is even cooler.

We have active members all along the west coast, east coast, and in many major cities in the midwest, I for one just think it'd be cool to have a thread that can help people find parts and frames via CL across the nation. might help some of us sell some stuff as well.

Sounds like what you are describing is purchase facilitation. They have a thread over at C&V -- even if what you're interested in isn't C&V, per se, the community is small enough, and people are generally nice enough that I think you have a pretty good chance of finding someone who'd be willing to help provided there are BF members in the area where the item is being offered.

Mumonkan 03-22-16 10:16 AM

also when leegf showed me how to set up alerts for searches in CL/ebay that blew my mind.

Add the text "site:craigslist.org" to the end of your search string in google. This will scope your search to the entire craigslist.org site and exclude all other sites.

For example, a search for "trek district carbon site:craigslist.org" will yield...

https://www.google.com/search?q=trek...utf-8&oe=utf-8

Goddamnit it is my size and I want it! Luckily I want bikes I can ride and this one is a pristine show bike and I would feel horrible if anything happened to it for any reason at any time.

TenSpeedV2 04-15-16 10:38 AM

Bikes are meant to be ridden, not become show pieces. Hope someone buys it and rides the hell out of it.

velofinds 04-20-16 12:59 PM

Frame is just meh, but this is still a bargain (and a sweet, simple build for the money), IMO.

+1 on 650b fixed gear with fenders in Portland. it literally makes too much sense.

+2 if rear hub is double sided for freewheel

Old school Bianchi pista

SCK 04-25-16 08:23 PM

Why must this be in my size and nearby.

applesoggy 04-26-16 05:23 AM

That exact Bianchi Pista frameset came up on eBay last month. No dents, but a little rusted and needed a respray. I emailed the owner for more complete specs as I couldn't find anything on it other than ""early 90's."

He was of little help, listing ended unsold. I was already shopping for columbus Cromor and Bianchi decals; he was asking $450 shipped, frameset only.

IFPCL 04-26-16 07:42 AM

Why are BMW frames so sought-after?
