Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Doesn't Canada have any bike shops you can go to and test things out. Or at least go to bike shop and order from a distributor?

lol yes - although ny state is starting to get a few tims. none of my local lbs have access to #kilott or else i would have jumped at them. one has started carrying pure fix, but thats hi-ten steel, and i'm keen on chromoly.

i might grab this one and build-up, if size is right. what do you guys suggest?

That^ makes my stomach queasy... speaking of which, there should probably be a bottle of pepto-bismol in the bottle cage instead.

The pure fix premium is hella nice for a first bike. It's Chromoly, I wouldn't suggest building up that frame you linked.

"I've put around $2100 into this bike not including the peddles or shoes"

Wasted your money dude, I saw the same frame set with headset sell for about $100 on ebay last week in excellent condition. I could have probably built this bike up for $500

Wow. Look at the profile pic of the stem. The faceplate clamp is on super crooked and the closer bolt in the pic has been tightened to the point where it is badly bent. Crazy bad wrenching, unless it's the pic, but I doubt it.

26" Schwinn Mountain Bike in a well maintain condition - Looks like a super comfy seat angle.

And it has this gem in the description...

It looks really cool when you put your nice khaki shorts and a checks shirt with Sperry's on your feet and your wayfarers and roll down the hill on campus.
and this:

I bought the bike at a $165 an year ago and I expect to get $100 now, but yes we if you are really interested we can settle to a price.

The price seems a bit steep. Any thoughts on what a decent offer would be? Not too often that a fixed gear pops up for sale in my town.
