Problem: Aerospoke wheel doesn't fit in my frame.

I am building a singlespeed that i want to use when i am gone live in Amsterdam. Last year i build a fixie so i use some parts of that bike to build a new singlespeed. But for now i have some troubles with my aerospoke wheel. I didn't came that far with google and youtube so i made my first topic here. I bought an aerospoke wheel but it does not fit in the frame... The axel is 1.2 cm and has a cap on it that is 1.4cm. the space in my frame is 1 cm. Are those normale sizes? I have made some pictures to illustrate what i ment.

and i would like to make it a front aerospoke. I already have a back deep v wheel from my fixie that i would like to use. So is it possible? I saw this hub but is this a hub that fits all aerospokes? TMC Sealed Bearings Hub for Aerospoke 700c Front Wheel - Hub & Pulley - sixbike.com If i could switch will my first problem also been solved so this has my preference.

I hope you guys could help me out!

Thanks

Bikes: officially too many now...

Looks like older road spacing, 126mm wide. Front wheels are 100mm wide. You may be able to exchange the hub guts to convert to a front wheel. I've never converted one myself.

This solution maybe sounds a bit odd but when i remove the cassette and saw off a bit from the axel could it be fit in front?

Yes but you'll have to saw off equal parts of the cassette hub and the non-drive side axel.

No no. Stop. Don't saw it. Understand what you're trying to accomplish before ruining anything. The hub shell itself might be too large.

It sure looks like a freewheel hub, I don't see a cassette lockring on there and there are 6 cogs.

I think i need that little nipple on top of the chrome thing to go in the frame and than use a quick releaser. The axel is about 1cm to long so the shell should fit right?

Thanks for the quick respons

It looks like they used to sell a kit for what you want. Their new website doesn't seem to include anything like it, though. It also looks like the hub is designed to be pressed in and out. (well, was) I don't know if that tech. guide is as old as your wheel, though.

The sixbike link was in the OP. While I doubt $20 is an entire hub assy, it's worth a shot! Esp. before hacksawing any parts.

I, uh, missed that.

To the OP, it would help to have some photos larger than a thumbnail, too.

Thanks for the help! I ordered the axel (from another site). I hope this will fix my problem. Also thanks for the link on how to remove the axel.

Hmm... seeing the larger pics I think I'd more concerned about the big hole in the thing. (unless that's just a trick of the lighting)
