Random encounter (DC content)
Does anyone know a girl who rides a brakeless Circle A in DC?
Apparently, I just met her father. After paying for my groceries, I was stuffing everything into my mess bag (now glad I went with Reload's courier size) and I guess it reminded the guy behind me of biking and his daughter because he made a comment like "That's the way to do it," then proceeded to tell me about her. He came outside, checked out my bike, and we talked about the Atlanta velodrome (he'd ridden it when it was new) and riding track bikes in the city.
It was funny that he seemed more concerned about her spending a ton of money on a custom bike than over her riding without brakes -- she must have skills. It was a really cool, random conversation.
...just thought I'd share; it made me smile.

Making a connection with strangers from out of nowhere is a very positive thing. It can make you feel good for hours..
around here, most times I just get a blank stare from people.

Bikes are cool icebreakers. I have to explain my bike to people sometimes.
Sometimes I don't want to -got errands, but ya, met a few cool old cyclists.
My fave tho -was from the grade school kids 'Your bike a custom?'
I talked a few, advised on thier bikes ..like jumping and kickstands are a no-go.
I chat cyclists up often, usually mtbers who have the tread reversed on thier tires and don't realize it.
Wish I had a track bike and a Velodrome to run..that sounds a blast.
