Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You're not crazy, honduraz; I didn't get it either; and I'm still not getting it. I'm assuming that it was a mistype.

No car sponsor= no money to do nearly half the stuff they normally do, which is a shame. It is just pretty thin.

Please! Might as well withdraw support from Armstrong too. It's not worth it when you can't see any of the great stuff that's out there, and there's nothing I can get my hands on. Next year, if Hummer comes in, I wouldn't be surprised at all. At least it would be worth the money to go to. I hope they get the biggest car company out there to back them up. If people want to whine like a bunch of babies, they need to be prepared to front the money to replace the money lost by the major sponsor.

Bikes: 1998 Stumpjumper Pro, SE Draft, 1984 Bianchi ATB, 1980? Raleigh Comp GS, Civia Loring

On-road or off?

The jail brake MTB lever has pretty bad build quality but it works. The actual brake itself is very good and the pads are, too. Cables included, good deal. I did my whole MTB SS with a set for the cost of a pair of salmon pads from the LBS.

I'd like to hear about the road variety.

The jail brakes are great. They're darn light (btw like 105 and Ultegra I think) and they're nice dual-pivot with real brake shoes. The sora brakes are more expensive and they don't even come with real brake shoes - just one big pad that acts as the shoe.

I've got a '84 Nashbar touring bike. My brother bought it back in the day when Nashbar was still owned by Arnie Nashbar and it was a catalog company. Anyway the frame is Japanese made Tange 2 lugged steel. It's a bomber of a frame and makes an excellent cyclocross bike.
