CORE Single Speed Bike

Has anyone used the CORE Single Speed Bike available from Sports Authority?
What is the review?

I've never ridden one, but from seeing one in person (and I'm a mechanic) I can tell it's a piece of sh*t. So I'll never ride one. I even saw one at the Authority that was put together wrong!

Your money would be better spent on a single pair of jeans.

I took a chance.
It had some well known named components, Welgo pedals, Promax brake, Kenda tires, etc., and after
- adjusting the handlebar angle
- adjusting the seat angle
- tighening the seatpost clamp
I find it a good bike for the price I paid to the seller.
It is my first bike with a threadless stem and deep V rims that I longed for, as my other bikes are old/cheap, too.
The Promax brake is effective and looks nice, too, not one of those stamped steel jobs found on a cheap bike.

Don't ride far without a phone, keep track of the miles and update us at 1k, 10k and when things break. Best wishes.

A name being "well-known" does not mean it's good.

It's very literally a PureFix with different decals.

If it is being sold as a bike at the Sports Authority I can say without a doubt it is crap. Same goes for the crap at WallyMart or Targét or places like that. Just because it has a logo you know doesn't mean it is good. Look at the low end Shimano branded stuff or the Windoze Zune, all sorts of crap is made by brands we know.

All of those Hi-Ten bikes are pretty much the same they just get a different "sweet fixie logo" when they leave the factory.

SA has some nicer bikes, too. They kinda overlap with higher-end Walmart stuff and lower-end LBS stuff.

I remember earlier this year (clearance season) they had a DB with 105 on sale for $500. If they have another deal like that in early 2015 I'm gonna have to get one.

Those Core bikes they got are kinda lame at MSRP. Maybe if marked down to $175 or so...

But you at least have the satisfaction of knowing some form of Dorlene, Pudge, or Clefus bolted that sucker as tight as it could go as soon as they got done with the new Vogner Char-Kings and patio furniture (on sale for $59.99 with you WallyCard).

You can put diamonds on a turd but it is still a turd. You can make a toilet with pure gold but it is still for when you need to drop the ole' "deucearoonie" (medical term).

The only thing "high end" at WallyMart is maybe some of the employees towards closing time (hi-oh)

Sheesh, what a snob. You can put YOUR turd on a diamond and it's still a turd, too.

Dunno mate, cheapest source of new, bicycle shaped, decorative objects I know of. Not sure I'd want to buy one to ride though.

WalMart from what i understand, isn't taking advantage of European workers. So, your WalMart experience is different from ours. They (Walmart) "plays by the rules" there. Here they destroy everything around them, and become the only game in many towns, while paying the people ****, with no vacations, etc etc etc everyones heard this before.

A week of what? $8.50. I'd rather mow a lawn for $15, and take the rest of the week off.

Minimum wage is $9.32 in WA. Friend has been there for 8 months, making $10.25. Similar pay to Fred Meyers.

I don't know how many "Mom and Pop" stores have shut down in BG since Walmart opened there in April.

Ummm, I don't poop! I am way too good for that plebian practice, however if I had a diamond collection I would turd all over them suckers because I can! 'MERCA ; )

There are actual bike shops that sell bikes even some at lower prices that are built by people who *drum roll* work in a bike shop and know something about bikes that would give them the knowledge to build it properly. Plus you can get fit and maintenance advice and potentially discounts on labor or other useful stuff. Plus generally most bike shop workers are much much less exploited then workers at Wallymart.

You can call me a snob but I dislike mistreatment of workers and a poor quality product sold at an inflated price. I don't know what scrap metal is going for but I am sure it is not the amounts that Wallymart and others are selling bikes for.
