Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Fixed gear upgrades

Here is my fixed gear and I am interested into upgrading it. Currently it has forged cranks, a chromoly frame and forks, and just regular deep v wheels. What do you guys have in mind?

Ya, a smaller frame should definitely be first on the list assuming that seat post is correctly adjusted

It's actually a little higher now but the frame is still too big for me. After a frame what should be next?

Flip your stem, lower your bars, raise your saddle, save for a new bike.

Ride it and upgrade the things that break and the things you don't like. And if you're not going to run a brake, at least use both straps.

I was also thinking about that and the gear ratio is small enough for me to just use one strap.

I have a feeling OP fit his bike with the principle of your feet are able to touch the ground while sitting.

2 straps and front brake or no straps, a freewheel and two brakes.

A smaller frame or having someone help you with your seat height.

Maybe he brakes by dragging his feet on the ground?? Since there is no other obvious way to stop the bike pictured. lol

I don't ride fixed but I would still ride with two straps no matter what gear ratio if I did.
