as cyclists, (in theory, at least) we follow the same written and unwritten laws governing four-wheeled vehicles, right? so what's up with finding some dim-wit having carelessly thrown his/her sh*t on top of yours or worse, as i did a few weeks back, coming out to find him actually sitting ON my bike?! would you pull that nonsense with someone else's car?

I'm trading in my IRO Mark V for a Tonka Bigwheel... look out, you hipster trustafarians!

seriously though, it's nice to see more bikers in the city, hipsters or not, they are fellow riders and i'm glad they bought a fancy bike and not a big ol' SUV. I'm just worried that they don't learn to ride well first and get themselves killed and then the city clamps down on no brakes. Thats the only worry I have.

What a crap article. Haha. I just ended up replacing 'fixie' with 'trucker hat' when I was reading that article and it makes just about as much sense.

I guess fixies have finally jumped the shark. I mean, first came capris, then everybody started wearing them, now fixies are new (within the past century), so I guess every starbucks sipping hipster is going to start charging around on brakeless track bikes when they're not fit enough to walk to the store for their menthols. I really doubt we have to worry about the brakeless track bike scene becoming super saturated.

Its funny most of you talk down "hipsters" drinking at their "hip" bars, etc. I think its funny how sometimes I pass one or a group of them and they give me some look (I hope for my neat bike). Its like high school or something, "Hey, look at this guy! Hes not even wearing his camy shorts and New Balance's... who does he think he is?"

To me, its about riding and not about fashion. Last time I checked, wearing a black shirt every day with some band "phrase" (not name, cause apparently band names are sooooooo 2000's) doesnt make you a better rider.

Im all about the fact that more people are riding. I agree with wangster though, about them killing themselves for the sake of be "in".

I'm just pissed off that now instead calling me an idiot, people are going to call me hip. I rather prefer being called an idiot. I definitely don't want to be considered hip because of a bike. Let it be noted that I've been riding for some years now!

Not quite close but it's like when you head out to your car (in my case, always a friend's) and there's someone or some people (no offense, but usually thug-wannabes) sitting on your hood and shooting the ****e. Whack.

In other news, butts are good.

Why the hell does anyone care? You ride track because you like it right? Who cares if a bunch of other people are doing it now? In a year there'll be a bunch of cheap track stuff on Craigslist when the next big thing hits, and you'll still be riding your track bike because it feels good to you, not because it makes you cool.

Edit: More people on bikes cannot be a bad thing. Also, I like butts too.

But yeah, more people on bikes is a good thing, even if it does involve idiots riding brakeless who can't do it entirely safely. I'm just getting progressively more annoyed with the hipster thing....especially since I occasionally apparently look like one.
