Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

If you're really riding on the track and only good days on the road, aluminum nipples; if you ride streets in weather, brass nipples.
Utah doesn't get a velo for another year so No, i'm not competitive on the track. And i have access to a spoke holder. Im not going to ride these on bad weather days. Ive got a heavy indestructible set of wheels for that. But if theres bad weather on race day ill be riding these.

Then go for it: 24 radial front / 32 2x or 3x rear, bladed spokes, aluminum nipples, and your choice -- aero or lighter -- rims. Probably aero/heavier rim to match the spokes...

Is this your first wheel build? If so, I'd still do round spokes, even DB, before bladed just so that you're not introducing another complication. Couple of builds under your belt? Bladed spokes -- go for it.

32 spokes is total overkill for you. I'd go no more than 28 spokes rear and 24 front. If you can afford bladed spokes then get them, as they will make a noticeable difference at speeds over 25 mph.
