SR Apex on an fixed gear?

Howdy,

I have an old SR Apex crank, and it give me a perfect chainline. It gives me pause however, because the spider was not forged together with the crank--they are two joined pieces.

Does anybody use this crank? Anybodyt think that it could break while fighting the pedals? I'm running a 39/13 with 700C wheels, if that helps.

Thanks!

Anybody have advice on joined cranks in fixies in general? Do they actually brake, or is this an old wives tale?

I rode an old SR Apex on my fixie for quite some time, it never went out on me but I'd be careful skidding. If you are worried just look for a cheap crankset on Ebay, that's what I did, I got a non-riveted, good condition Sugino GLP double for $15.

Hello genericbikedude,

I know it's a long time ago since your post but I have a question: I was wandering which BB length you used and what chainline it gave you? Any help is extremely welcome..

Greetz,
jasenko
