Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey I used to love that route. I usually took Peoria Rd. down, through Coburg. If you do that, there are great riding roads out in the Mohawk Valley. Once you pass Coburg, turn left on McKenzie View Drive. That road follows the McKenzie River for a ways, and then you come to Hill Road. You can turn left onto Hill Road and wind through beautiful valley farmland... Or turn right on Hill Rd, and cross Marcola Road and wind down Camp creek road east for a very beautiful, windy ride through the countryside.

Another option is once you are in Eugene head west... there are many options. Paul's Bicycle Way of Life near the 5th street market will be able to give you lots of route options.

One of my favorite road rides in the area is to head up Fox Hollow Rd around Spencer Butte. Go past the Willamette turn on to MacBeth Rd. Turn right on the Lorane Highway and take it back into town. There's a little more to the ride than that, but that'll get you there. From downtown it's a good 1500 feet of climbing and a wicked fast decent down MacBeth Rd. so it might not be the best fixie ride. I haven't taken the fixed gear on this ride yet, but I plan to soon.

Other than that, Greenhill Rd to Crown Rd and on is a nice ride. It's rolling terrain, but nothing too major.

The ride gonesh described is very nice as well and probably more fixie friendly.

No but that is one long ass ride fixed. How far from Eugene to Corvallis? I could take the 99E from Albany and go south.
