Arlington commuting from East Falls Church into Rosslyn plus weekend rides. Have two old steel Raleighs. Thought I had posted here before, but can't find it. I regularly check both the Northeast and Southeast Regional discussions.

Anyone here in Blacksburg, VA? Im a new grad student at VT and a noob to mountain/trail riding. I just ordered a 2010 Gary Fisher Mamba 29er for a local shop. It'd be nice to meet some other people here who are into this sport and arent too advanced for me to ride with them lol

Hey Big Ry, I'm in Christiansburg and bought a KHS alite 500 last February. Haven't even hit a trail with it yet, been mainly on the road until I bought a road bike two months ago. I'd like to try it off road and I am a complete beginner. There are supposedly some great trails at pandapas pond. The 29er sounds nice, which shop did you go with?

whats up str8jakett! I got my 9er at East Coasters. They said it ought to be in by the end of the week (I hope it is!). Im not too familiar with the area yet so I dont know where pandapas pond is. I got a couple trail maps from East Coasters though. So youve never been off road yet? My "off-road" experience probably would be considered street riding by the pro's standards. And I dont plan to be jumping over and bolders or flying down a 40% grade any time soon lol. Im hoping to use it for the commute to campus on some days just for the exercise and hit some trails in my free time. Are you planning any off road excursions anytime soon?
I thought East Coasters was a Fisher dealer but I wasn't sure, haven't been in there as much as Hokie Spokes, where I bought my KHS. Poor mtb has been relegated to trailer duty around the neighborhood since buying the road bike. Be nice to get it on the dirt and see how much I like that side of the sport.

Pandapas is nice. Been a little while since I've been down that way since I don't do any mountain biking any more. But good trails. A lot of good ones here in Roanoke if you want to make the short drive up here.

Cosmo, been riding this Defy and getting used to things. About to take the bike down for the initial adjustments. Have some squeaks and just noticed my 52 ring is bent! Hopefully I'll be comfortable enough to come ride with you soon but right now my rides aren't anywhere near the mileage you do, tops about 25 so far. Still the best purchase I've made in a long time, love the road!

As for rides near Richmond check the routes used for the Richmond - Williamsburg MS150 or the one last weekend for the childrens Magic network out of Atlee. All nice small roads.

Hey, currently in CA, but I will be moving back to NOVA soon again, originally from Alexandria/Annandale. I'm just getting into cycling so whenever I move back to VA I would love to get into a group ill post back whenever I move back, probably in a few months or so.

Moving back to Chesapeake at the end of October. I'm a 200-250 mile a week roadie, and am quite anxious to find a good group to hook up with in the Hampton Roads area. I'm game for damn near anything so long as we're pedaling....if you have a group or are simply looking to find someone else to ride with, please get in touch.
