Very technically challenging riding can be found in Fort Valley, Virginia. The Elizabeth Furnace recreation area of the George Washington National Furnace near Strasburg, VA Half Moon Mountain Outfitters.

We had a summer intern from JMU living with us last summer - he said that to get to class by car takes longer than going by bicycle. Parking problems, mainly.

Don't know about the town as a whole though.

Yorktown and you didn't see any bikes?

Been around here (Williamsburg/NN area) for nearly 25 years or so, can't believe you didn't see any bikes. Rides through the battlefields and Yorktown area went on for lots of years out of the HDK shop on Denbigh blvd, sometimes fields of 25 to 30. There are still Yorktown rides two evenings a week. Shop rides pretty frequently out of Conte's in NN (near main street) go over thru York County, those have been going on since I moved here. Bike wars out of Williamsburg was a well known regional ride, often starting with dozens leaving the spoilage spread out over lots and lots of roads through Charles City and James City counties. Even now, on any given Sat morning we have from 8 to 15 riders on our normal ride, pass another shop ride that has 15 plus, and there is a third ride in town that frequently has as many as 20 or so......Lots of Roadies in the Yorktown, NN, Williamsburg area!

Hey, anyone know of any shops around here that carry Orbeas in stock? I wanna test ride. All About Bikes doesn't have any in stock, only special orders...

Bikes Unlimited in Williamsburg

Barry at Bikes Unlimited in Williamsburg has a few Orbeas on the floor, depends what you want and what size. If you ride a 55/56 or so he has a gorgeous Orca that has been there for a while, I'm guessing you could get one heck of a deal.

Thanks Bernie -- I'll call Bikes Unlimited. I think I'd ride a 57 (center-to-top) but it might be worth checking out. And thank you too, Bld -- I called Fat Frogs and they don't have any in stock. Though the guy I talked to said I could check out his wife's Orca.

LBS folks are always soo cool.

I've ridden the Seagull century three times. It's flat and easy. Did my first one at age of 63. Only headwind I can remember is about last 2-3 miles you have as you head towards the bay, the turnaround point. It has good sag stops. Good time of year weather wise.
