You want pie? The Conquistador will travel far and wide to find you pie.
I just ate at Southern Sweets today. It is actually right off of the Path (less then a 1/4 mile) where it passes over Laredo Drive, which is the road that runs right into the Dekalb Farmers Market. Today they had pumpkin, Key Lime, Sweet Potato and Rustic Apple pie. They were out of Rustic Cherry unfortunately. But it was very good homemade pie. Also had some well made sweet tea and half a pimento cheese sandwich. And they serve Zapp's chips. My favorite. They also have a few tables out front so you can eat and keep an eye on your bike. They need to do something about the yellow jacket problem though.

https://www.southernsweets.com/map.asp

Very good food after a hellish day of 2 flat tubes, patches that wouldn't stick, losing said patches in the grass somewhere, and a tear in my sidewall in my rear tire. Damn good thing I got a lezyne mini pump over the weekend. I used it quite a bit today.

Nice place Deren. My wife and I have eaten there a few times.
Don't eat there too often or you'll need larger cycling clothes.

Sorry you had problems with flats. What tires are you using?

Yeah, the food is a bit rich. I'm going to try the Key Lime or Cherry next time.

The tires were Michelin Pro 2. I can't find a replacement for just one tire to match. Any suggestions?

I think the Pro 2 has been replaced by the Pro 3. That's all I can find online. Why not try it.
The last time we rode I had a 700x23 Continental GP4000 on the front and a 700x25 Vittoria Rubino Pro on the rear. All because I had a flat (sidewall cut) and had to toss the GP4000 on the rear. I was too cheap to buy another GP4000 for $64 + tax.

Since then (last week) I bought two 700x23 Continental Grand Prix 4 Season tires and replaced both tires. They only cost $66 each + tax. I broke down and got them because they have an extra layer of protection on the sidewall. My last 3 flats (2 last summer, 1 this past July) were sidewall cuts so I've got my fingers crossed.

Hey folks,
RonH directed me to this thread. Thought I'd say hi and introduce myself -- I'm from Lilburn and relatively new to road cycling. I go into Decatur a lot and have thought about riding around Church Street and a few of the other less congested roads by the Square. Anybody ride around there, or around the Lilburn/Stone Mountain area and know of some good routes?

Thanks,
Mike

Welcome. What part of Church St do you consider less congested?

There are lots of roads in the Decatur/Emory area that are traffic-lite. Give then a try.

Hi Ron,
I can't PM you since I don't have 50 posts yet, but I'm interested in the Effective Cycling book if you haven't promised it to anyone yet. I'm in the Lilburn area, but wouldn't mind coming into Decatur to pick it up.

Thanks,
Mike

Saw that the Atl/Dec thread was down near the bottom of the page so thought I'd move it up a little.
Looks like a beautiful day today since the cold front has passed. Just a little windy. Who's riding today? I need some encouragement.

Everyone said flip the stem so after the first ride I decided that was a good idea. Is this better?

I hope its not too aggressive. If it is I'll be trading the stem for something like a 0 degree stem.

What brand/model trainer did you get? Can't tell from the picture. Can you adjust the resistance from the handlebar with the thing on the end of the cable?

You'll have to post a review of it after a few "rides".

While I was talking to the salesman at Roswell Bicycles, it somehow jumped up on my trunk mounted bike rack and hung on tight. During the drive home, every time I looked in my rear view mirror it was still there -- luckily.

I've done a few rides on the new bike. I compared all the measurements with my Litespeed and made a few changes today. Next week -- when I hope its warm enough to get out for a ride -- I'll see if it feels better (more like the Litespeed).
