30 miles today with beautiful weather
+ 2 riding days this yr.
+52 miles vs this time last yr.
29 miles average per ride this yr.
6,825 miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000

Good day today, great weather. Temps were mid 60* and the wind was light. This weather must have everyone inside by the fire instead of onthe bike.

It's been bitterly cold here, wind chill down in the 20's at least. I've been bike commuting (yes, I know I'm nuts) and I think it's starting to get to me.

I tried riding today. Got less than 2 miles before I gave up. Semi-frozen slush and packed slush on many of the side streets that are shaded by tall pines and big oaks. I'm over this crap!! Its been here for a week. Can't wait for the rain tomorrow and Tuesday to wash this *%#@ away.

I was riding along my normal route today and passed a guy on a road bike and full kit and a girl on a mtb as I passed them she shouted my name so I turned around to see who it was. She happened to be a friend that I had not seen in some time. She was the 2009 Mrs Florida America and was riding with a former Discover Channel Team member and US Postal Service Team member. I rode with them for about 15 miles and had some great conversation about the status of pro racing. It was good to see Janet again and meet Bobbie.

First ride of 2011... 2nd annual Birthday ride - 20 miles w/ my friend Mike Jones. Really nice ride... about 48 out. Toes and fingers a little chilly near the end but well worth it. First time on my bike since MS150 in October. Looking forward to another great year of riding... pics: pic1 pic2

haha.... no - it was faux "extreme cycle-x photo op" though we did seriously consider it, we decided that if we did not have our bikes, and had on proper footwear, it was possible. I did note that the railroad ties would break our fall...

If you feel up to it try some short rides it might help your recovery.

Sounds like a plan. Feeling pretty good right now before bed. Maybe a Post Office ride tomorrow and, maybe a bit more if feeling good.

Yep, Did the ride to the post office on the mountain bike. I can really tell I have hardly ridden in the past month and a half. Combined with still not quite being over the flu, got a bit hard to breath a couple of times. But over all felt good to get back out, even if it was only for a short ride. 6.5 miles or so...

Decent and comfortable weather for riding.

Hey folks, checking in... no, I'm not dead. I rode last weekend, did about 40 miles and kept upwith the carbon guys on their "recovery" ride. A couple of guys on hybrids dropped off due to the brisk pace we were pushing... me on my glorious steel mountain bike commuter.

I commuted Monday and Tuesday, but I started feeling very tired that night, and I needed to get to work early on Wednesday, so I drove. Well, felt more tired Wedesday, drove Thursday. Thursday night, started running fever, hit 101 and decided to stay home. I'm still sitting in bed, fever just clocked in at 101.8 and I feel like a zombie.

So all you able-bodied peeps out there, get some miles in for me, will ya?

Stickman sorry to hear you are under the weather. How is the book progressing? You should write a book about 115 mile on a chopper...

Thanks! The first e-book is already up for sale, and I'm over halfway through writing a second one. If I get into riding some long rides, I just might write a book on it... that would be fun! "Touring the country by chopper."
