Super ride this morning with a great group. Jim T, Becky, Tom, Renae, Roscoe, Eric, Mike and Bob, Dave and Brenda and myself.

We departed the trail head at 8 am and it was already hot and the humidity was sky high. After the tour thru Mandarin we headed to Panera Bread for a little breakfast and some conversation with Sandy and Ralph.
After leaving PB it was pretty much non stop to Oveido before we took another short break. Then it was on to Winter Park and the official restaurant for The Posse.

The temp right now is 90 degrees but my Garmin registered 109 degrees and that is pretty much the way it felt in the direct sun and the reflection off of the blacktop. After Tibby's we worked our way thru Winter Park then Maitland then up to Altamonte.

Left the house about 9AM. I gotta get out earlier on these hot days. Rode the bike trail along CR486 to Hernando. Rode to the north end of the Withlacoochee Trail. Stopped for water and headed south and then home. It was getting WARM by the time I got to the house.
Not many riders out. Did they all head north till the fall? Wish some of my neighbors rode. Most of them either ride Harleys or golf carts.
Did a total of 35.5 miles.

The fog was just lifting when I left the house and rode to Hernando. Headed south to Ft Cooper. Turned around and stopped in Inverness for a snack and water. Then headed north to Hernando and home. Rode 28 miles.

I guess most folks forgot its the Memorial Day "holiday" because I only saw one patriotic (flag) jersey.
I wore this.

Good ride this morning with a nice group. We had a mixture of regulars and some new riders join us for the day. Thank goodness we had cloud cover all morning or it would have been extremely hot, The Garmin did register 104 degrees but again that is in direct sun-lite on reflection off of the blacktop.

Did my usual ride from the house to Hernando and then to the north end of the trail. Stopped for water and headed back to Hernando and then home for a total of 35.5 miles. Rode the Litespeed today and did better today than last Saturday on the Litespeed.

Very casual ride yesterday with Barry, Bob, Becky, Jim T and Ralph. Humidity and temps were very high even at the start. Garmin registered 102 degrees and it felt like the humidity was about the same. Did the usual stop at Panera Bread then out International, Wayside, Oregon, and Orange to the horse farms. After a short break we headed for Fox Spur then home. No one seemed to have a lot of energy except Barry, if it hadn't been for him I think we might still be out their.

Great way to end the month, with a 52 mile ride. Thank you Nancy for leading a great ride. Made some new friends and got to spend some time with some old friends. How great is that. The cloud cover kept the temps a little lower and I made it home before any rain. I must be living right.

I didn't realize the wind would be blowing so hard today. Rode from the house to Hernando. Had a head wind all the way up the hill between Brentwood (my neighborhood) and Terra Vista and then all the way up the 6% grade hill. Then headed north. Stopped for water at the north end and then headed home. The wind seemed to change direction about every mile or so. Had a nice tailwind all the way west along CR486. When I got home my computer showed 1287 feet of climbing. Rode 35.7 miles.

Good ride with Brenda, Carl, Ralph Jim T, Bob and Mark. Things got off to a poor start as Jim T had a flat right at the start, but after replacing the tube we were off and rolling to Panera for breakfast. The wind was out of the south so most of the ride out was pretty nice with the breeze at our back. Coming home was another story. For the 25 mile loop from Panera to Wekiva Falls and back to Panera we averaged 15.3 mph. Garmin temp hit 102 degrees with an average of 88 degrees. Summer has arrived in Central Florida.

Had an awesome ride today. Let the house just before 9AM. Rode from the house to the Withlacoochee and headed north. Got water at the north end and turned around to head home. The 6% grade hill is getting much easier.
Took the long way around our neighborhood going home to add an extra 1/2 mile to my total. Oh wow!!
Rode a total of 35.9 miles. Got home before noon.

Yes, I happily rode today
My slick-tired hardrock needs attention and I've been neglecting it. First time in the saddle for a while, neglected bikes lead to neglected riders i suppose. First time out with my new GF Wingra, too, so I took it pretty easy, took a 16 mi round trip over the under-construction Bayway Bridge, down to Ft. De Soto and back. There was some kind of bike race going on down there, people wearing aero helmets and such. Hope they enjoyed their rides as much as me! 16 miles, averaged a modest 14 mph. Topped out at 35.6 coming down the bridge - wonder what the grade is? So much more enjoyable than my sad old MTB - not missing the front shock at all on these flat Florida asphalt routes!

Great group today on a ride that had a little bit of everything. Trail, road, soft sand, high speed traffic, heat (Garmin reached 105 degrees), good food (Dexter's), good friends, and some walking and some head wind. What more could one ask for. Nine of us rode about 64 miles thru all of the above listed conditions. The hearty bunch consisted of John and Donna B, Tom and Renae, Jim T and Becky, Rich, John Burke and yours truly.

@ Jim: a little tailwind instead? I did not ride today, but did clock in 18 yesterday at a leisurely 13mph avg. Just peddled around town, testing out the new commuter.

Took my new Cannondale to a new place today -- Floral City.
Rode from the house to Hernando and south. Got water and had a snack in Floral City. Then headed home. Total of 38 miles.

Good ride with the Posse this morning. Jim T, Bob, Roscoe, Barry, Ralph and I braved the scorching heat and humidity for 47 miles today. Made the usual stop at Panera and had coffee with Sandy before she headed home, it is always a pleasure to see her at Panera. The Garmin maximum temperature hit 107 degrees and I think we felt every bit of that. It is like being in a sauna out there. The 21 mile loop from PB to PB we averaged 15.5 mph today and the heart rate is getting higher due to heat and riding a little harder and calorie burn is pretty good also. Our mph could be improved if we pushed a little harder on the ride out of the Horse Farms and the loop thru Foxspur. Perhaps next time...

Great ride this morning with Barry, Janelle, Bob, Roscoe, Ralph, Jim T, and Becky. To get some extra miles we added a few loops after the Panera stop, so for the 30 miles from PB to PB we averaged 15.3 mph. Still lot's of room for improvement. Today was Janelle's longest ride and I am going to tell you that girl can go. She has really done a great job in just a short period of time

Good group ride this morning, Tom, Renae, Linda P, Roscoe, Jim and Becky T.Break at Panera then east around the airport and up to Lake Monroe. Strong head wind for about half of the ride, but head winds build character, or so I have been told. Good ride everybody...

Nice short ride with Roscoe, Linda P, Ralph, Bob A, and Jared this morning. Since it was Fathers Day everyone wanted to get home early so we shortened the loop from Panera Bread to Panera Bread to 10 miles. For this segment we averaged 16.2 mph with almost everyone taking a pull at the front. Temps were in the high 80s when we got home but no rain which is always a good thing. Good ride everybody

Rode from the house to Hernando and met lookinUp and two of her friends, John and Natalie. They were riding their loaded touring bikes getting ready for the Great Allegheny Passage Bike Tour, I believe. I thought we'd ride south from Hernando to possibly Floral City or Nobleton to get in a "long" ride but it was getting hot and they decided to head north. We talked about heading over to the new section of the Withlacoochee from Citrus Springs but again the tempature was increasing and the humidity so they decided to head to the north end where they were parked. Rode with them and wished then success and a fun time on their tour. Stopped for water and a Hammer bar and then rode home for a total of 35.8 miles.

Got out early to get some extra miles before meeting Jim T, Becky, Bob, Roscoe, and Ralph. Spring Oaks has a few very short climbs that reach 7% so I road a few of them to get me started. From Spring Oaks it was on to Panera Bread via Mandarin for a few more rollers. The weather was great today but very hot and humid. For our 20 mile segment from PB to PB we averaged 15.5 mph

Did my usual ride today -- home to Hernando to the north end of the trail, back to Hernando and home.
Some young hot shot (appeared to be mid-50s or younger) shot past me at a blind intersection on CR486 where I'd stopped to check for traffic. Reminded me of the idiots in Atlanta who think cars will always stop for them regardless. Anyway, he stayed about 50 feet ahead of me until we got to the 6% grade hill. I passed him like he was standing still before we were half way up the hill. He finally caught up with me about a mile down the road, again when I slowed and stopped at an intersection where I could see traffic "blocking" the crossing. He shot past me again. I guess I'll see him as a hood ornament one of these days.
Other than that my ride was rather uneventful. Rode 35.5 miles.
