well, I did 2 bike rides Saturday. 1 for 5.5 and next 3.3 with . right after the first ride just different locations i made my best time around the lake 3.5 minute mile. after the last .5 mile ride then got cramps for I would have rode more. cramps in my shin and ankle and foot. enough to make me stop. any suggestion on not having these cramps, not the first.I drink some apple vinegar it helped but yuck. I did my best for 1 week 20 miles. hope to improve this week to 25-30 and keep improving to 50 in a week

Took the Litespeed out today. With all the wind it was a "slow" ride.

Took the Cannondale out today. The winds were beyond blustery for most of the ride.
I really had a hard time keeping the bike under control when a gust of wind caught my front wheel.
Rode to the north end of the Withlacoochee Trail and back to Hernando. 22 slow, cautious miles.

Yes, my ride yesterday was quite the challenge staying out from underneath cars with the heavy winds. Going down hills of any significance I just got out in the middle of the lane when up to speed so I had a few feet to swerve. It was pretty scary at times, but sure fun on the downwind leg of the loop. Got in a nice 18 miler.

Took the Litespeed to the Withlacoochee Trail today. Wanted to get out before the rain got here. Did my usual ride.

It was cool today.
It was 49F when I got the the trailhead and a balmy 57F when I finished my ride.
Today was not a happy day. When I was heading north on the Withlacoochee Trail at the Hernando trailhead a dog walker was walking north in the section where the tall trees hang over the trail and provide a lot of shade. He was on the right side (correct side) of the trail. I saw a dog on the left side in the grass. I wasn’t sure if it was loose or on a leash so I slowed. Riding from the bright sun (wearing sunglasses) into the shade made it hard for me to see much. At the last second I saw that the dog was on a LONG leash. It was stretched across the trail from the guy on the right into the grass on the left side. Luckily I stopped just in time. He activated the retractable leash and yanked the dog back toward him and yelled a few expletives at me. I told him this was a bike trail and the way he was letting his dog wander all over the trail on the "invisible" leash was very dangerous. I got a few more FUs as I rode away. Another dog walker was just few feet past the guy and pulled her two dogs closer to her as I passed. She too yelled a few expletives at me. I guess she thought I was "trespassing" into her private dog walking space.
I’m guessing they were snowbirds. I’ve seen an increasing number of dog walkers on the trail in the past month or two. Seems like more than in the past few years.
If you're riding on the Withlacoochee Trail be aware of these "uninformed" dog walkers. Personally I wouldn't be sad if they all hit the road tomorrow for the "paradise" they left behind. It must be a wonderful place since they all go back there in the spring, and its all they talk about when you overhear their conversations at local restaurants and stores.

Took the Cannondale out today. Rode from Hernando to Inverness, then headed to the north end of the trail. Stopped to refill one water bottle and had a quick snack. Met a guy at the north end from Savannah down here visiting his brother(?) for the Thanksgiving weekend. He was riding a CAAD 9. We rode back to Hernando together. Nice to have someone to ride with and had a nice chat while we were riding.

It's been some really beautiful weather the past couple of days, and looks to be again today for the first half. Went on a nice social ride on the cart paths for Black Friday and stopped for a margarita whist we watched the shoppers act crazy across the shopping center. As it got dark it cooled quite a bit, so we cut short and called it a ride after only 7 miles. Yesterday the wife and I took the trikes down to the cart paths and had a nice late lunch ride. We cooled off quite a bit while having lunch, but a few short hills took care of that.
My plan today is to take the road bike on a good loop. I have been trying to stay off the road for the sake of the crazy bargain hunters, but don't think I need to do another cart path loop today...my gut needs some busting.

What brands are you considering other than Trek? Will you be visiting any other bike shops?

Did my last ride for a while on Thursday. My prostate surgery is tomorrow. Gotta be at the hospital at 5:45AM.
Hope my alarm clock is nice and loud. After I get home I guess I'll be giving my bikes a lot of TLC since I won't be riding for 2-4 weeks.

I hope your surgery goes well and wish you a quick recovery.
I rode what is looking to be my regular route. I added an extra mile (17) and had my fastest average speed yet. My husband took our 13 year old son out on a local mtb trail. I wasn't sure if my hybrid would be good on it but they said the easiest trail would be fine (the only one they rode as it was their first time and they said it was pretty tough).

I took my bikes to the bike repair shop and man, the bike, genesis is running great and like new after realigning the spokes and adjusting gears and making sure bearing are good. Then went to pick up my Schwinn and Mr.Harry at Keaton's had a heart attack and I hope he returns soon. Mr.Harry explained that the Schwinn and genesis was not put together correctly at Walmart, had to put in new bearings and adjusted gears. looking forward to seeing him better.they have been closed for the holidays. Monday I am picking up my Schwinn. praying for his quick recovery

Went to see the surgeon for my post-op follow-up and prostate lab test results. He removed the 30 staples in my abdomen. He said the cancer had grown from a 7 to an 8 in the 1-1/2 months since the biopsy in one area but there was no cancer present in the lymph nodes or surrounding tissue. That means I'm CANCER FREE.
I go for a cystogram tomorrow morning to check for any leakage. If all looks well they'll remove the catheter. I'm hoping that I'll be back on the bike in another 1-2 weeks.

Hope they remove the catheter , I went through that in March, but for a different reason; major surgery on my tongue, all is well now. Lost 2 months of biking but still got over 5000 miles this year. Good luck to you.

well, I again did a first for me; I rode in real cold weather and really enjoyed. I fixed my genesis xr26. I adjusted the shock to a longer length and it became a absorbing ride when I rode over 5 miles today on a different route. I am cycling for a 40 mile ride in a day soon.
