^ The wife and I were riding on the cart paths here in PTC and came across a FAT King Snake sprawled out sunning himself. The wife was lost in something else and didn't see him till too late to identify. I am glad she didn't get hurt, but have to give kudos to her "get the hell out of the way" instinct.

Today we had a good group, Bill, Darrel, Janelle, Albert, Bob, Rich (rode from his house), Larry, Ralph, Mark, Julio & I. We stayed together pretty good going over but split into about 3 groups on the way back. The wind was pretty strong and I being pretty wide in body it really took a toll on me. My Garmin started acting up again so I don't know if my mileage is correct but I will go with what it says. I am going to do away with the cadence and speed sensor and just go with the satellite, I think that will work better. I got dropped on the return trip so I took a chance that some of the group would stop at Mulligan's for the Thursday meatloaf special, it was a good choice, I stopped at the 7-11 across the street to refill my water bottles and Rich rolled in just as I was leaving, Bob and Mark arrived shortly after that. As we were leaving Mulligan's I gave my tire the pinch test and sure enough it was flat, so I found me a nice place in the shade with a table and chair and put in a new tube to get me home. Perhaps that head wind wasn't the only thing slowing me down. Yes I will run with that. garmin says 40.2 miles.

After all the daily rains I finally got a chance to ride. Plus my "back injury" physical therapy has held me back a bit too. Drove to the Withlacoochee Trail Hernando trailhead and rode north. Between the heat and the loss of fitness (from not being able to fully function and too much sitting or lying on the hard floor with my legs on the chair ) I only did 13.5 miles. I'm hoping that by the end of August I'll be back to my old self and my usual mileage and riding.

Tough day today 5.08 miles, Roscoe was not feeling well due to lack of sleep last night so he pulled us down Markham Woods road at 23/24 mph so needless to say that blew me up. Leslee, MoMo, ,Janelle, Rich, Bill, Albert, Mark, and Ralph joined us this morning and without them I would have been riding by myself. Today was one of those day where I had to push myself out the door. Thanks to all of you for staying back with me and allow me to poke along. It was meatloaf day at Mulligan's so 4 of us stopped for lunch on the way home. MoMo was ecstatic, when the brought her a chunk of meatloaf that was about the size of a large loaf of bread. She now has dinner for tonight and probably a meatloaf sandwich for tomorrow. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and what looked like Texas Toast, all for $6.99, what a meal. The temps were a real factor at least for me today, the feel like temp on the Garmin was 107. Rich rode from his home so he will get about 100 miles today, good god I wish I was young again.

Finally got out today after getting the go ahead from the spine doc (seems I have spinal stenosis ). He said the Litespeed would be good for my "ailment" but suggested getting a better carbon bike. So I rode to the bike shop and talked with the owner about a SuperSix EVO Hi-Mod. She gave me some prices on a leftover 2015 (would have to be Dura-Ace) and two 2016. The choices would be Ultegra or Dura-Ace. She said she'd give me a good trade-in on the 2015 I have since I bought the bike from her and its in like-new condition. Just waiting for the 2016s to come in and trying to decide exactly what I want.
Only did 14.8 miles.

Be sure that you are saving your ride before closing the app. I closed the app a couple of times without saving and had mine erased too.

Seems I get a later start every year, ah well... I coulda sworn I'd ridden some in the spring but if I did I didn't log any of it. Came home early from work today with some kind of "something I ate" issues, went sorta stir crazy, and when the wife announced dinner was gonna be an hour and a half I blew the cobwebs off the road bike and did 11-1/2 very hot miles. Felt *weird* to be on the bike after all this time.

Keep riding and it will feel weird when you don't ride everyday.

Went out today for my "therapy" ride. Did a whopping 13 miles but my back felt great when I got home. In fact I felt good all over.

That's what I'm aiming for.

Today was 23-1/2 miles at rather a higher pace than I figured I was capable of. The rain earlier today really knocked back the temperature, and at one point I was actually chilly! Hopefully I won't need to use my leg muscles tomorrow, 'cause I think they probably won't answer the phone when I call 'em.

Got out early before the heat, although the mornings have been a bit cooler. Did a whopping 16.2 miles. My spine doc said no need for speed or distance. After being off the bike quite a bit this summer I'm having to work up to any distance.

Went out and did another "therapy" ride today. Sure is tough "starting over" after being mostly off the bike for a few months thinking it was damaging my back/spine. Sure glad the spine doc said cycling was the best medicine and therapy for me.
He said quality time on the bike is what counts, not distance or speed, so I did a whopping 16.5 miles. According to Cyclometer and my ROX 5.0 my ride time was about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Tuesday's supposed to be the short, easy ride in my new training schema. Um, d'oh, what part of going up The 39th Avenue Wall right at the end of the ride falls into the "easy" category? Oh, well, survived it, and learned that 6mph is about as slow as I can go uphill without wobbling to a stop. Note for Thursday - go north where the roads are flat!

I've been riding only the Litespeed after the spine doc comments about comfort. Today I took the Cannondale out for a short ride (16 miles). I never noticed before that the Cannondale isn't as comfortable as the Litespeed. Its only lighter. So now that I've convinced myself I'm just waiting for the 2016 Cannondales to hit the shop. The C rep was in the bike shop yesterday and he said he didn't even have any catalogs yet. Sherry said the Supersix EVO Hi-Mod bikes would probably be available in late Sept or early Oct. Oh well -- the Litespeed has always been my favorite of all the bikes I've owned.
