Today I just did a good cleaning job on my bike that I've been putting off for a month, needed it bad after yesterday.
Just went out for a quick 10 miles, a couple of those on some gravel roads I've been looking down but not taking. It was great, the gravel was smaller and harder packed than most of my routes, rain made the dust go away and was having a great time and so I didn't care that some dogs on my turn back to the main road were looking a little meaner than the usual bark and chase and I don't trust my sprinting ability on gravel yet....So I kept on going - and going - and going- and the sun started getting real low and I got a great "well bless your heart" when I found someone to ask for directions. I deserved to be called a dumb-ass but it was all fun. Had no idea I made it out that far.

Three more miles out to a main road and then 8 miles back to the house around bed time. Wife was a bit upset, should prolly start carrying a phone for that sorta thing (and strava) but I needed an adventure.
Tomorrow I'll go try and climb somethin'.

I got a Park PCS-10 bike stand for my birthday.

Sounds like a lot of fun. We only have 4 directions in FL, east, west, north and south (even that is limited).
No up and down directions. :0)
Gotta watch out for the doggies. There is a tool called a break stick if you run into a pit bull.
One was hiding behind a car as I rode my bike. (Maybe I should keep one handy)
I went down a road where cement trucks go in and out of. A fine powdery dust all over my tires and bike.
Hard to clean off.

We rode North from Croom Rittal Rd to Inverness and back (obviously) yesterday morning. It was definitely nicer that it was overcast,and although we got rained upon for awhile on the way back, just South of Istachatta, it was a good ride and we were done and back home again before 11.30.

I'm not as lucky as some people... who happen to live just a few minutes from their favored trailhead. 😉

Did a quick 15 miles today a few short clinbs but nothing over 10% today.
The biggest hill around me is only 800' in about a mile and a half, but almost nothing around here is actually flat, so I'm only half lying when I talk about interval training.
Dust is the worst right? Gets in all the tiny cracks and crevices.
I'll look into that break stick, I love pit bulls now, since I got a rescue and she's the sweetest most gentle dog I
ve ever met. Her name is Dolly:

I have an old 'as seen on TV' California duster. Looks like a small triangular shaped handheld mop with some kind of wax impregnated into the mop's red strands. Works pretty good (when I can find it).
Pit Bulls seem to get feistier when in pairs.
My bike's original weight is 44 pounds so that hill would be one good workout for me. haa ha

I'm going to change the trail on my 630 Beach Bike from 38 mm to 68 mm. Yes, out their sales door to my house with a 38mm trail. The funny thing is, a straight fork (no rake) would bring the trail up to idea (Dave Moulton's idea of a reasonable trail anyway). So I'm thinking, this is just a hodge podge of random ideas thrown into the geometry of the frame. A straight fork would be too uncomfortable so I'm keeping with the curved fork.
I might get my Schwinn ATB going. Too much waiting around for modifications on my Beach bike right now.
I trued the wheels on my ATB a long time ago and it has been sitting around in parts since then.
But now that I got a bike stand...

Why yes, I certainly did!!!! Was out on the roads at midnight on my grocery grabber tooling around enjoying the 79F temps and high humidity after a nice rain shower passed by a few hours earlier. Only got in 22.32 miles but found 2 pennies in the bike lane!!!!! Profitable bike ride.

Nice ride with the wife down at Lake Horton yesterday. A bunch of popup thunderstorms rolled through right as we were getting ready, so we sat back for a bit and waited it out. Glad we did, because it brought the temps down considerably.

I ride south from Hernando some days. Maybe I'll head down toward Nobleton or farther south once the temps start to cool off a bit.

I actually enjoy riding the North end up from Inverness too, but again when the weather is cooler and shade isn't such a necessity (for me).
It's almost an hour to the Inverness trailhead, and being as I like to be out early at the moment ... ;-)

Nice 11 miles on the beach at New Smyrna Beach yesterday. Reminded me why I like riding on the beach, especially this time of year (just wish I lived a little closer). Cooler than inland, and the ocean is right there for a cool off after, if you don't mind the sharks.

Awesome ride tonight. Had some shopping to do, so we decided to take the bikes (from the truck, so the whole ecological part doesn't count) and do the shopping and get dinner. It was a bit later by the time we were done, so we turned on the lights and headed back. The temps were amazing, it felt like warm bath water.

16.5 miles at a 14.3 average down to Lake Horton and back from the house.

Was the first time in months at the very least that I actually got out the spandex, put the clipless back on the bike and went out like a "cyclist". I found myself amazed at the lack of drag while wearing form fitting clothes...it's easy to forget that kind of thing. Being back on clipless was nice as well, but still wouldn't go back to it for my regular social rides. Too hard to get out on the left side.

Taking Ron's advice, I opted to get out early to beat the heat and it paid off nicely.

Made it out at 0444 this AM for a warm 81F 21 miles. With the lightning flashing over the Gulf some distance away I made it back home for a quick shower, some breakfast and started to get ready to head out for another 60 miles when the clouds rolled in from the Gulf along with wind and rain. 2.5" of liquid sunshine so far with more on the way.

Did a five mile ride yesterday morning in anticipation of the rain we had coming. Took out the new cruiser bike and had this distinct feeling like riding on a flat tire (still). I got home and a check over showed the front brake pads dragging. Fixed that, hopefully next ride is a bit faster and easier.

Got out early even though the rain was close by. Rode the Cannondale from Hernando to the north end of the Withlacoochee Trail and back. It never rained. There was a very comfortable breeze from the south when I stopped at the Citrus Springs trailhead for a snack and to refill one of my water bottles.

first ride today with my new bike, rode with my brother who is an active rider and way better than i am. we did 20 miles at a 14mph average, the last leg he blasted off to get his heart rate up but it was all i could do to make it back to the truck with my current fitness level and learning a new bike and a new sport.

Keep at it and you'll soon be leaving your brother in the dust.

Added my homemade trail adjusters to my beach bike.
A couple of rides down the street and then a short jaunt to the country mart and back.
Still no hands-off but bike seems to track better.
Maybe fingers on is a better description.
Noticed my balance on the bike effected where the front tires went more so than the randomness of before.
Right in a sweet spot here between maneuverability and tracking.
Found myself looking further down the road.
I could do ridiculously small well controlled slaloms.
This may help when I power on (rider not there yet).
Took a good stretch in 3rd gear all the way at a leisurely pace.
(Normally 3rd gear is not a leisurely pace gear)

Bike not fighting the road in turn I'm not fighting the bike, goes straight enough.

Seeing a decent sized storm system heading east over the withlacoochie trail on the radar, we opted to drive east on SR 50 over to the Van Fleet State Trail.
We rode South just over 16 miles from the northern terminus when the rain started, and we decided it would be prudent to turn around.
It was steady rain all the way back to the trailhead, but it cooled things off and made it easier to keep the pace up.
A rathet wet, but very enjoyable ride.👍

Bike fell over and the rear fender hit the gusset support bracket on my new bike stand leaving a crease /dent a little over 1 inch long. I got a ballpeen hammer and spread the ugly around. Rusting in the wheel well so I scrubbed and painted it. If it wasn't butt ugly before it is now.
