16 miles Friday dodging the rain but was very warm. Saturday we did 40 early in the day before the front came in and it started blowing very hard. Much colder now and for the rest of the week. Highs only in the low 60's and our first killing frost this week.

Due to weather and a skirmish with sickness, I haven't ridden for a few days. Time to HTFU!

19 miles on Monday, 16 froze to death miles on Wednesday, and 24 slightly warmer miles Thursday. I'll take those hot humid days of summer any time over this.

did 60 miles today, together with 9 other cyclists from Brushy Mtn Cycle Club. It was a little chilly, but I had enough layers on to make it tolerable

Gonna try to get in a Thanksgiving day morning ride with some of the same group - weather permitting.

38 miles out to Heiskell. It's still cooler than normal, but better than it was.

did a 35 mile ride with 5 other BMCC club riders earlier today, up in the hills between Wilkesboro & Boone, which included a brutal 1,000' + climb in a 2 mile stretch

Ms Santa has green-lighted me to get a new sled for Winter Solstice, so I've been out shopping -- looking at: Giant TCR,Tek Madone 5.2; Look 566; Cerevelo.

I have yet to try out the latter two, but my LBS has an '09 Madone 5.2 demo bike that they hooked me up with for a couple days, so I rode it for this morning's group ride. Big difference, going from a 24lb+ lugged steel bike, to a full carbon 16 pounder with light-stiff wheels. *I WANT!*

We went to see my m-in-law at the nursing home. Lunch was supposed to be served around 11:30-12:00 but the folks providing the lunch called and said it would be later, around 1:00-1:30. My sweet wife knew I was planning on a ride after lunch so took me home so I could ride early (rather than waiting until ~3:00 to leave for my ride), then she went back to the nursing home.
Did a quick 25 miles. Saw a few riders heading home while I was heading out.
It was sunny and cool (hi 50s) for most of the ride.

About 1/4 mile, when my old Helicomatic hub went into freewheel mode. At least it wasn't a long walk back home.

Got 26 miles of calorie burning in after lunch. Relatively warm, wind wasn't bad, traffic light--I had more fun expending calories than I had consuming them.

21 miles around noon today after the fam left for Atlanta. Got caught in the rain on the way back home. Got soaked but at least it wasn't cold. Been raining all day.

Finally back in the saddle--the first ride since Thanksgiving.

Due to wet weather I went running on Sunday. First time I did that since spring. Rather than sensibly trying to ease into it, I went full speed for 45 minutes. Turns out cycling muscles are different than running muscles. And consequently the latter have been sore since Monday. It was still slow going down the stairs today. But, curiously, I only felt it a little while cycling.

Too bad I couldn't ride the bike around the house.

26 miles Saturday - 45 degrees and cloudy - froze my butt off.
45 miles Sunday - 40 degrees and sunny - dressed the same as Saturday and had to stop and remove a layer - amazing what a little sun will do!
