19 miles Monday. Fighting for time after work, the cold weather, and caught a cold. You know how people say you need to start off feeling cool because you'll warm up later? That doesn't happen on late afternoon rides in the winter. It just gets colder.

Beautiful day in the mid 70's no wind. First time in a week I've felt like riding. Had a bad cold that took it all out of me. Can't remember not riding for that long. Weather was crumy too. Got in 24 miles with my riding buddy after work. Good to get back on the bike.

9 mile round trip with nothing but ice on the roads! It was awesome! This was the first time I've ridden in this kind of weather. My LBS reassured me that the tires that came on my Trek 7000 were good for the weather we have here in Owensboro during the winter, but tonight really reassured me of it. I only slid or spun my tires when taking off and had trouble once when I had to stop at a stop sign...trouble staying on my feet.

For the first time in four weeks due to pneumonia, I got in 5 easy miles on a beach cruiser, from work, escorting new interns to their apartments to help guide them around the island. Work is really slow.

Got in 20 today and 21 yesterday after work. Close to 80 degrees in December. I know it wont last so we are taking advantage of it. My kind of riding weather.

Twenty-one miles of gusting, 34F windy goodness. Winter is so awesome.

I think it got up to about 48F when/where I rode today, but it definitely was windy. I had more than one gust threaten to blow me off the road. Sure glad I was maintaining a good grip on the bar; something I can't seem to do whenever I wear thick gloves. They always make me feel like I'm wearing boxing gloves.

Yup, even though my toes were positively numb by the time I got home, at least my fingers were nice 'n toasty -- thanks to my new pogies. To use WP's vernacular, these are the coolest (or should I say warmest) things EVAH! I can wear my shorty (summertime) fingerless gloves, keeping 'em nestled inside all nice and warm, until they start to sweat, then I take 'em out and ride on the bartops for a while til they cool off.

Now if I just had something like that to put over my peddles.....*hmmm*

Was still warm Sat am, about 65 F, and we got in 37 miles. Big change today though with wind whipping and temps dropping. It was warm all week so no complaining here. By Christmas day supposed to be 74. Too bad I have to travel to Atlanta to visit folks. Hey Nota I like the gloves.

I hadn't either; at least not until I stumbled upon them in a bike shop down in Charlotte,NC a few weeks ago. As soon as I soon as I saw them, I knew that was what I wanted.

According to their website, Bicycle Sport (on Selwyn Ave in Charlotte, NC) is the only dealer in the state that carries them. You can order them on line, though.

For me, as someone who literally suffers from poor blood circulation and numb fingers (whenever the mercury drops below 60F and I'm not wearing gloves) these are the best thing since canned beer and sliced bread. They're a bit expensive, but, considering what they want for good set of cycling gloves these days, which leave you with a "disconnect" feeling, they're not that much more.

They come in S,M,L - but I chose the Small, as I have small to medium sized hands (for a guy), and I prefer snugly warm over spacious and drafty; YMMV.

I've never seen these Bar Mitts before either. Pretty cool or warm I should say. Maybe they will make some for the pedals?

Gave into the weather today and didn't ride. Upper 30's with strong winds. Will wait for a warmer day.

The Bar Mitts is an interesting concept. But my gloves do a good enough job of keeping my hands warm.

What currently limits me on cold riding is my feet and (to a lesser degree) my face. So pedal mitts might be more up my alley.

It only got up to 27F today. No riding for me.

Nota

Yeah, my mitts got me by for Saturday's ride, and again for yesterday's, even though it was a bit colder, but my feet are my weak link. It was just too cold to venture out today for a ride -- much as I wanted to try to put a few more miles on the new sled.

I think I'm going to try a set of those full neoprene booties and see how they do; maybe even stuffing one of those little chemical/air activated handwarmer packs up under the balls of each foot, between my shoe and the neoprene booty, and see how that does at warding off the numb toes.

20 miles. Very light city traffic on Christmas Eve. All good except for wet pavement. And I really do need to replace my brake pads.

An 8 mile family ride throught a very quiet downtown on a warm Christmas afternoon. Every bike in the garage, save the 16" Schwinn Stingray, was on the road.

haven't biked since october, mostly due to the wife's increased work load in the evenings and weekends... Dad sent me a older travel trac century mag trainer along with christmas presents... got on for 45 minutes today, definitely out of shape. Hoping to get some sort of routine going again.
