Thanks,, Getting better
Damn, alberto, speedy recovery to ya!
I got out on the road bike today (a rare pleasure this last couple of weeks) for a 10.6 mile spin. Lots of Botts Dots littering the bike lanes, only a little bit of gravel, and very few tire chain fragments, luckily. It got about 10 degrees colder as my ride progressed. Good thing there's an uphill back home!

31 miles Saturday solo. 10 mph south winds made for a challenge. It was the last of the warm days for a while. Gonna be cold here all week.

24 miles with my dependable riding buddy Larry after work. It was in upper 40's here as well and not as bad as I thought it would be. Sometimes you get the clothes just right.

Finally got out yesterday after the deep freeze and got caught in the rain and had to turn around only 8 miles. Try another day. Its not always gonna be perfect.

I had been doing my usual super short and even embarassing commute to work all week through the fla deep freeze, about 10-15 miles all week. Then I did about 23 miles yesterday, reversed route to combat wind direction. A nice 20mph with the wind at my back, a short stretch of "old hard road," literally, its a hard dirt road that i took with 23's @ 20 mph... whoa... stopped by an old pause point i used to make about 10 years ago... its been more developed of course...
the last quarter or so of my ride was a rough little rolling section into the wind, i was slowed quit a bit by this, but some of the time that i was working so hard and concentrating intensly i was staying around 17 (don't know how, didn't feel like it). I made it past the tracks just in time to remember that i brought my camera... empty south bound CSX.
think i'll try again today, taking pics can be fun, but all the stoping and starting holds me up, need a helmet cam (saw one at nashbar)

Great pics Droobieinop! I doubt I could figure out how to post any pics of my rides. Maybe I will try.
35 miles today solo through the SW GA countryside. SW wind at 10 and low 50's not too bad. Great to get out.

Oh yeah, I played hooky this afternoon. 66 miles from Rt 28 commuter lot, down W&OD to Leesburg, out Rt 15, Gleedsville Rd (2 blocks worth of gravel ) then Oatlands Mill (unpaved but rideable), Lime Kiln to Snickersville to Airmont to Round Hill to Hillsboro to Purcelleville and then back on the wonderful W&OD again. What a great day after the weather we've had!

I saw a guy out on a bike while I was at work today... he seemed to be enjoying the nice weather. I was quite jealous.... this evening I was planning on an hour n the trainer but despite listening to treasure island (which is a pretty good book...) I lacked the mental stamina to keep at it for more than 45 minutes.

Thanks for showing me how to post a picture. It wasn't bad at all. After riding BRAG last yr on those shake and bake roads I needed something different. Found the Merlin on Roadbike Review for about the same price as my Trek Pilot. On long rides the Merlin is a dream compared to the aluminum frame. Yes we have hills in S Ga not a big as those up North but enough to know they are there.

I did what I guess to be my first planned interval exercises... (on the trainer) did 10min warm up, and alternated 5min @ 160bpm and 5min @ 180bpm 5 times, then some cool down... and now some recovery pasta salad while watching the last stage of the tour down under.

that's like the curb trick. You set the crank up such that the force on the pedal is such that the bike just barely wants to go forward (not free-wheel) and if you do it right, there won't be enough force on it to overcome it's resistance to move and it'll stand up - like a kick stand.
the real question is - did you carry that brick with you?

This morning I finally got to go for a little ride with my lbs https://aboutbicyclesop.tripod.com/index.html, they dropped me, but I rode fixed with about 8 gear inches less than their racing machines. I haven't riden in a group, not even of 4 in maybe 8 or 9 years, and the owner is the a national masters tandem champion. https://www.velobrew.com/JaxHome.asp Thats him on the right.
