Yesterday, Apr-23. 72.8 solo miles. 4:28 in motion time. 4:49 elapsed clock time. Explored a couple roads which I knew about, but had never ridden. 8 county lines, but 2nd isn't until ~ 35 mile mark. Most of the lines come in a tight group of three and another tight group of two. I'll take the sprinters I ride with on this course and let them beat each other up the last 30 miles.

Too busy planning career change to ride this weekend but, new job shall afford me a great deal of time to ride... I'll start getting atleast 15 mi round trip commute with time for morning and afternoon rides again. Haven't had that opportunity since the last millinium and one son ago.

Off topic mostly - I have mixed feelings about MUPs and Rails to Trails. My first century attempt was Cleveland Metro Parks Emerald Necklace Tour (100+ yo park circle), I've riden part of Ohio-Erie towpath, and now Jax-Baldwin. I also use the local things when availible, they are very few and farther between. The peds and intersections kinda sketch me out. Maybe things will improve as greenways progress.

Sorry just a side thought.

Try to get in my 15 before noon.

Took a morning ride today in and around Palatka 20 miles (actually 19.96 lol). Pretty nice ride last 4 miles back to the van was into a pretty good headwind. Felt good when I got done though. During the ride I was stopped and taking a drink of water when a pretty good sized dog came at me from the other side of the road. Barking really loud and being very aggressive, it actually came out into the middle of the road towards me. I yelled at it ... and it would back off a bit, I would walk a bit it would come towards me again. Repeated this several times until finally i got down the road far enough and it wandered back where it came from. I had just got back on the bike when I see coming down the road the dog catcher. I flagged her down and said "there is a pretty good size dog that is loose and being very aggressive back that way about a block". She said "thank you i'll check it out".. Kind of weird because when that happens I always think at the time "I should call the dog catcher and file a complaint".... But by the time I get home Ive forgotten about it and never do LOL.

I've ridden 6 days in a row now ..

Better to catch animal control when they are out, CCSO won't do anything unless someone gets bitten.

Did my trip to the lbs and back, on the way I took the lane in one stretch setting up for a left at a 4 way. When the truck behind me pulled up to my track stand I expected "Get outta da road...," instead I got a look of amazment and a "You were doing like 20."

My ego bowed up, my eyes rolled and looked down my upturned nose as I cleaned my nails on my shoulder and exhaled in my best JJ Walker "I know..." (naw, that all just happened in my head).

I actullay said "That's 'bout right."

4/25/09 Pinellas Trail Taylor park to Tarpon Springs and back 35.70 miles with my daughter. Good ride

4/26/09 Sun Coast Trail Tampa, FL 46.00 miles with my daughter. Very windy very hot and sunny. To put the wind in perspective the St Anthony Tri was this Sunday and they canceled the swim for all except the pros in Tampa Bay due to wind and rough water conditions.

Loaded up my mountain bike and hit the dirt/sand trails off of the G.ville Hawthorne trail today. Total ride time today was 1hr 6min.. 8.56 miles I think. Stopped to take a drink of water and take a picture of this HUGE tree that fell over the trail (that wasn't there last time). The tree is so big that they left it over the trail and you can ride under it, kind of cool. While stopped I realized that I forgot the bug spray, and the mosquito's were out in full force.. uggg... I didn't do much stopping after that LOL. Overall a very nice ride....

The most riding I've done in years. No really. I'm going to call it 30, but more like 33+/-.
17 miles around the lake, got passed by the shop guys about halfway out, darted off to catch them around the corner but, they went straight. Then 15 round to the lbs and back, to work.

Saturday is the last day at the car wash. After more than 10 years, I'm getting back into the bike shop biz. Guess I'll be getting more miles in now lol

I did a hill training ride this morning, mostly within two miles of my house. Here in southeast Atlanta we're blessed with some really hilly terrain, including some long rolling grades with sustained climbs (Moreland Avenue, Memorial drive) and some short steep hills (Muse Avenue, Atlanta Avenue). My total distance was only ten miles, but most of it was either climbing or descending, which makes my body feel like it's done about thirty.

I'm getting ready for the Six Gap this year. At my age (57) I have a diminishing number of years to do these challenge rides, so I'm going to schedule two of them per year until I'm 62.

Good luck at the Six Gap, we will need a full ride report when you finish. Age is just a state of mind....
