30 miles before work today, plus another 6 on the commute home.
18 ave. all day

boy did they crush me today, I was hanging off the back @ 25 as they kept ramping up to 27 or so.

I gave chase and couldn't bridge back up, turned early, had to wait at a light, made the turn, kept going and while looking down trying to figure out some weird feeling when I noticed the shadow of a helmet under me that wasn't mine.

It was the guys and they were playing cat and mouse with me and had been behind for a bit. ok, wanna play lets go, ran up from 20 to 25 and hung for a bit more. Rode the last 8 or so back by myself.

Great ride though

I was feeling beat up from the last 2 days' efforts after a week of rain, so I bailed on this morning's ride. Silly me, they rode easy today, or so they said, and I could have hung, most of the time anyway.

Today's 13 mile commute only, ave 17 fixed with a 52/17, or 80 gear inch

I did about 17 miles this afternoon - went out sight seeing. I actually wound up back at the Narrows of the Harpeth state park. This time I did about a mile's worth of hiking and went up to the ridge where you can see the river on one side, and the river on the other - some places the crest of the ridge is only a few feet across. Also went and checked out where the water exits on the other side of the ridge. (the narrows is a 5 mile loop of river that travels around a ridge and when it's back to back w/ the ridge between, it is 200' from it's self - a tunnel was bored through the ridge to run a forge) It's a great reason to ride with MTB shoes on... you get to do a little sight-seeing if you want to.

I got my bike back from the shop today. While there this guy brings in an OLD Schwinn road bike. I don't know bike that well, but it was a steel frame with rusted steel wheels. Looked like electrical tape on the bars. I overhear the guy talking to the mechanic he says "yeah I have worn off all the teeth on most of the rear sprockets"... Yep he said sprockets not cassette. Says he has been riding in the same gear for a LONG time now. When he wore one gear out he would switch to another... I guess he ran out of gears... LOL He then goes on to say that "the front gear (not chain ring) came off of a mountain bike"... He said he liked the ratio and would like to keep it the same if possible when they put a new "sprocket" on. Says he rides 30 miles a day in the summer and more in the winter. I'm thinking to myself... he LOVES that bike.... how cool!!!

Anyway.... rode 17.38 miles today.... Felt really bad for the first 6 miles.. heat I think. Stopped to take a pic... after that felt really good. Saw a baby gator sunning itself in the middle of the trail. (see What have you found while riding thread for pic).

Sunday morning ride today. Felt good right from the start. 26.24 miles. Thought I was going to have to ride the last 6 or 7 miles into the wind...... but for once the wind changed direction in my favor and the last 6 or 7 was with a slight tail wind ....

19.99 miles today (yeah... didn't notice it was .99 ... or I would have went a tad further...LOL)

Started riding about 5:45pm or so, got to the turn around point at 10 miles. Had planned on taking a bit of a rest at the nice bench there. Got off the bike and before I got sat down there were about 50 mosquitoes flying around me or on me. Got back on the bike as fast as I could.... Think I'm going to get some of those Off wipes to carry with me. Cus I would HATE to have a flat or something and get stuck trying to fix it with a TON of mosquitoes attacking me.

Rode up to work today and there was no one to ride with, so I headed out on my own for about 21 miles. The ride home after work was slower with a head wind part of the way.

2 hours in the saddle for 33+ miles at 17 mph

starting something new this week. i took off a day after the english mountain ride. yesterday the ride was short and intense. i had read about interval training but never could comprehend it here in the constant up and down of the local terrain. so i chose areas of slight incline to do 3 min intervals. i don't have HR monitor or anything, i just blast as hard as possible for the time keeping my cadence above 80. i am going to do a 3 min. day, a 15 min day(interval duration), and a long ride on the weekend (or a long climb) that is for miles not intensity. any other day will be bonus because of my schedule. oh, i do two intervals on an hour ride.
i have a goal: to complete three prominent mountains here in one day, English Mountain, Bluff Mountain, and the road up the Smoky Mountains to Newfound Gap and Clingman's Dome. Along with my son, we tried to do all three in one day a year ago but abandoned after the second (Bluff). We went too fast at the start and he (thankfully! cuz I was dying) said, "I don't think I am going to make it", while climbing Bluff. I am unsure of the total miles, but it's a goal for this year.

Sure hope you didn't sound or seem too excited when your son said he wasn't going to make it...

just my commute today, I could have gone in early and riden with one person who would have killed me, unless he was feeling generous, damned he's strong.

13'ish round trip
ave about 17

it's like a sprint out of the blocks some mornings

yada yada yada

now, if someone would just remember to set the sprinklers for that 3-3:30 afternoon soaking and stop ruining my ride home I'll be happy.

30 miles with no commute home, since my ride showed up in time for it to clear

I kept banging my head into the steering wheel the whole drive home.
