rain, rain, snow

Thurs, Feb-26: 17.0 miles hill repeats; 1hr, 5min; fairly strong S breeze; warmish
Fri, Feb-27: 27.0 miles mostly hill repeats; 1hr, 49min; STRONG S wind; supposedly temps in the 60's

That S headwind knocked me down to 9 mph on FLAT section! Luckily most of the course was sheltered from the wind by trees and hills.

Sat, Feb-28: cold all day rain. No ride for me.
Sun, Mar-1: COLD all day rain. No ride for me.
Mon, Mar-2: There's 3 inches of snow on the ground, man. No ride for me.

If I wanted to ride in the snow, I could move back north.

No snow here but saw it coming down on the way back from Atlanta yesterday. 25 miles with the guys after work today. 55 degrees not bad.

No.

A little lame responding 20 hrs too late, but the answer would still have been the same. I only have one rideable bike - and I don't fancy taking it in the mud at Umstead. It took long enough to clean it up after riding the Saturday after the Inauguration day snow storm the previous Tuesday.

I also lack adequate clothing for 32F dropping to 29F.

32F rising to 38F or more, okay, that I could deal with.

The guy from Quebec probably thinks I'm a wimp. So what. I'm in NC, not Quebec. More important to be able to deal with heat and humidity in the long, long, summer.

you guys are making me feel bad. Haven't been on my bike in ages... I picked up a low profile headband type thing to keep my ears warm while at a Performance store in Atlanta last week though... so my temperature range just lowered slightly.

It was another cold day here in the deep south. Strong icy wind made for 27 miles of torture. Supposed to be warming up by the week end though.

Geared up the raleigh international fixie from 43x16 (70 gear inch) to 52x17 (80 gear inch) friday last week. It felt good in the warm and calm during my commute on saturday. This morning however was a different story, highs in the low 50's winds at 12+ and gusts into the upper 20's.

Ok, so its not even a mile to work on the short route, about 1.5 on the back side, and then I have a few other ways to add more milage. I went in twice and only got to work for 'bout 45 mins. I guess people don't like to wash their cars when its cold, too bad I don't get paid when I don't work. I did do 'bout 10 miles in the wind fixed on 80 gear inch and still getting over the funk I'd been fighting these last few weeks, still not strong enough for that big gear.

Got in a freezer ride last night. Hopefully the last one. OK, the last one this week. The way this winter has been, we'll probably see snow in April.

Oh, sweetness:
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.
Tell me this isn't a dream.

yes! left the loveless cafe at 8:45pm and did about 20 miles - out to mile marker 435 and back on the natchez trace parkway. Warm enough out for shorts and short sleeve jersey, moon full enough not to need headlight to see (though I turned it on for cars... about 8 total)

took two pics..

stopped to take one during the descent off the ridge

and one back at the loveless
