Near Farmville, VA. 48 miles, 3 hours. Wind & hills made it tough. Now I need a nap.

40 miles on a wonderful day in the mid 70's. Actually got hot but I'm not complaining. Had to dodge some locals drag racing on a 2 lane road. We wondered why folks were lined up on each side of the road. When we saw two cars smoking it towards us we got off the road quick. In a few minutes everyone was gone. Never know what you'll see on the bike.

OK, OK .... I rejoined Team OFMIS, (Prounounced off-miss, and stands for Old Fat Men In Spandex).
18.5 yesterday on my single in the city
22.5 today on our tandem on the Suncoast Trail

We just got our brevet cards in the mail for completing a 200k, (125 mi) on the tandem last August, and now doing 20 miles is a chore! But we're back on `em!

Five of us rode today after work. Close to 80. More time now so we got in 35 miles. Love this weather. We are getting ready for a hilly BRAG in June.

an acquaintence & I rode 48.3 quiet miles from Youngsville to Gillburg, Gill, and Bobbitt, including 19+ uninterrupted miles straight south into the "light" southerly breeze. We called that section "mtn training". Quiet, bwnc.

36 miles after work today. 78 degrees today. It feels good to be warm again. We went through the country side. Not much planting going on yet. Saw mostly cows.

supposed to go out this evening for Trace Bikes Thursday evening ride (the first one of the year) However... it's 32 out. It has been, and is supposed to sleet all day, well past the 6:00 t-time. I think I've got enough gear to keep warm... but warm and dry, I don't think so. Still undecided... Tuesday it was 76 out.

Don't you just hate it when you have an apparent headwind the whole ride? Except in the summer heat and humidity, when you'd "kill" for a bit of a breeze when you're going upslope with a tailwind resulting in an apparent wind of nothing.

Yes. I did ride today. Mt Mitchell doesn't care that it's raining. VO2 max intervals this afternoon. In the rain. 15mi.

After having had surgery to clean out my left leg arteries a week ago yesterday, and having only ridden on short ride since. I rode today.

I ventured out early and wussed out at 2 miles due to the cold and wind, came back home, worked my courage back up, then rode 10 miles of which about 60% of the ride was into the 15mph, gusting to 25+, wind.

Not much of a ride by many standards, but was a lot for me today.

Ed, it sounds as if you had the same wind in Savannah that I had here in Altamonte Springs (Orlando). I did 22 miles on the Wekiva Springs Trail with 15/22 MPH winds out of the NE. Tail wind on the return trip suure was great though. With your leg surgey last week 12 miles seems pretty good to me, way to go.

got to ride with the lbs guys yesterday morning without my comp so I don't know distance or speeds, but these guys were fast. hung with them about half way out 'till they ramped up the speed, I'm guessing 25'ish. had that same head wind going uphill to get home.

fun though all the same

Yes.. finally. I left our driveway and did a 22 mile ride making a loop out of back roads with a little highway mixed in, a route I had never done before. I took several pictures along the way, and a highlight of the ride was when a gentleman trimming weeds in a ditch along the road paused and stepped back to allow me debris-free passage - I gave him a nod and an enthusiastic "appreciate it!" Also, no dogs. That was nice too. Decided to cut through the nearby state park on the way home... paused to watch three military CH-53 super stallion helicopters fly overhead. Time was right at 1.5 hours... very enjoyable ride.

Well, lucky me - went on another ride today. Went just under 22 miles with a guy from church and his friend, seems I've found a local cycling buddy (local = a few miles down the road) which is pretty cool - he offered that it was the beginning of a great year of riding. We did yet another route I've never done.

On the ride we made a slight detour to see the Narrows of the Harpeth, - In 1818, a businessman named Montgomery Bell bought this land and (with the help of slaves) dug a tunnel through the embankment that separates the two sides of the Narrows of the Harpeth river. In doing so, he created enough moving water to power a forge, known as the Pattison Forge, that was used to turn large pieces of raw pig iron into smaller and more malleable pieces.

We also saw Mound Bottom, a prehistoric Native American complex that was built between 950 A.D. and 1300 A.D - both of these about 8 miles from my house and I never even knew it.
