Its been awhile since I have posted. I'm not really "riding riding" again but have been riding a little bit. I got a seat post rack for my mountain bike and started riding it to the post office 3 or 4 times a weeks. Its about a 8 mile round trip. Figured this would save me a bit of money and get me back on the bike until the weather cools off. They are almost done with construction on the main road near me. Divided highway with 2 lanes on each side, and NICE new bike lane..... That way I don't have to drive someplace to ride.... Still a bit rough for the road bike.. but they almost have it done...

Yesterday 40 minute ride on the road bike back from town...
Today=8 mile ride to the post office and back

I just started really riding last week due to not being able to run on my foot. I am officially addicted. I am up to about 25 miles per day but think I could double it pretty easily, its just a matter of allocating enough time. After riding regularity it baffles me that more people don't. A peaceful place is somehow forged from burning legs and cars passing a little to close for comfort.

Thanks.. I've been lurking....

Did the post office 8 mile ride this morning... Short rides are better than NO rides... I think!!! ONE package but that is why I got the rack for the bike and started riding to the post office.. Played dodge the guys working on the road game again, never know where they are going to be..

Due to some health issues and rain here, I haven't gotten out in over a week! I finally got a ride in today, but it wasn't much fun. I didn't feel great when I left and between the humidity and the headwind, I started really feeling lousy. After about six miles, I turned around and went home. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow!

Managed to ride 22.3 miles today. Thought I was going to get rained on, but the rain held off. It has been a little windier than usual, I guess the summer is turning to fall (which means it'll only be 85 degrees!).

I've been enjoying my new wheels, which I've been riding this week.
The daily totals have been about 40 miles with averages increasing by a half to one mph. It has been a bit of a rest week between the St. Augustine races last weekend then Sugarloaf and Swampman this weekend.

My biggest ride yet... At least 30 miles today... Long way to go to catch some riders, but 30 was huge for me!

Just getting back into it after what's really been a years-long hiatus, with only an occasional bout of bike riding. Managed four times since last Saturday. Had to do a bunch of yard work and housecleaning (the Gators are playing the Vols, and we're having a house full of people over to watch it and eat ribs ) and I was up way late last night (replacing a tire I didn't realized I'd skidded the tread right off of in two places ), so I only had time for about 15. I'm trying to work up to 50 for the Horse Farm Hundred end of next month. I used to be able to reel off anything up to about 50-60m with not all that much prep. Those days are gone forever! Gettin' OLD!

just under 45 this morning. Really nice ride... on the verge of raining the whole way until about 3 miles to go and it started to drizzle. I tried to do this ride last weekend but took a wrong turn and wound up with 30 instead.

22.4 miles today from the Central Ridge trail head on the Withlachochee to Inverness and back. We also did a side trip into the downtown area of Inverness and stopped for an ice cream. One of these days we will get up early and ride before it gets into the 90s!

Linda, I guess I was home before you left! I rode from my house to Inverness, 32.4 miles round trip. It was starting to get hot when I got home a little after 10, I wouldn't have wanted to ride later than that. I started hearing some creaking and cracking noises from my front wheel, so I dropped the bike off at Blue Run Bikes. Last thing I need is for something to break and send me over the handlebars, I have spent enough time in the hospital this year already! I won't be able to get it back before Tuesday, so that gave me the incentive to finish the modifications (new wheels) to my 1983 Puch. It's ready to go now, so I'll be riding my C&V bike for the next few days!

One of these days we will get started early. We didn't start until after 11 and weren't done until almost 2:30. Too Hot!! I think tomorrow we might ride the Withlachochee Bay Trail late in the afternoon. We always seem to see lots of wildlife there. It's a short ride (less than 10 miles) but very scenic. One of these days I'm sure we will pass each other.

Today my riding friends and I became the Komen Bike Patrol for one of the largest "Komen Race for the Cure" races in the country. There were over 15,000 runners and walkers that turned out in Evansville, IN to support research for breast cancer.

What a great chance to give back to the community. It was a great ride...

Best regards,

Mike

Today was the first saturday ride with my new bike. It is amazing the confidence a new bike that fits better can create.

I haven't really checked my comp for stats but I didn't miss any accelerations and was able to hang with those big boys that weren't off racing. The average was around 18 and my max was about 32 with a good portion in the 20's.

Good ride, loving the bike.

We did a short family ride today, about 11 miles. Don't know the exact distance as none of our bikes had a computer. Nice morning with a lot of sun and cool temps. I'll try to get out for a longer ride tomorrow.

We rode yesterday but a short ride. Only about 9 miles at the Withlachochee Bay Trail. Only 1 deer siting this time. Still really hot at 5:30. Guess we should have waited an hour or so later. Not as much breeze as there normally is there. But, it was a ride.

Uggggggg..... The ONE morning I plan to get up and go for a ride and its raining. Got the bike loaded up and ready to go (have to drive 3 blocks to the pavement and park). I just cant start a ride in the rain... even when I was riding a LOT I could hardly ever do that...... DOH!!! Maybe i'll try a ride late this afternoon.... On the plus side they have 1 side of the 4 lane road opened ... with bike lane on the side... Looks like really soon and they will have the other side opened too..

I may never be able to ride again. It rains every day. The one day after work it doesn't my time is taken up with cutting the lawn, hedging the bushes, etc caused by all this *** rain. Guess what, it's raining again this morning.

Managed to ride 22.5 miles today on my 1983 Puch. Kinda strange riding with no gadgets, no computer, no MP3 player and no cell phone. Just like 1983! I'll try to do it again tomorrow!

Yep..... ITS STILL REALLY HOT!! LOL..... But I did get a short ride in today. Had to pay bills in town, so got dropped off and rode home. Started the ride at about 1:30pm ... and the heat didn't really get to me until I got near home. I live about 1/2 mile from the pavement and its all sand. So I had to walk that last half mine to the house.... NOT fun in the sand in bike shoes in the heat... LOL ... Feel good now ... but was really over heated when i walked in the door.

14 miles or so.......
