Check with BluesDawg-he plans to do it and has done it a number of times. You might check the 50+ forum.

Hey Bluesdawg - I will be on Brag as a newbie too. Advice I heard lately - two bags are easier to carry then one.
THats it - Have FUN! I will be on a white and pink bike and will likely wear my Bikeforums shirt at some point.

I have not done BRAG. But I have done numerous other multiday tours. I use 2 bags. I use one for my camping gear - tent, ground cloth, sleeping bag etc and one for my clothes.
I also pack everything in ziplock bags. You never know when you are going to have to pack your gear away wet.
As for the ride, just ride within yourself. If you hammer the first day and do not quite recover by morning the next day and hammer again, well you eventually torch yourself. I don't think that is much of a problem with BRAG. I hear that BRAG is rather laid back.

Someone called me?
This will be, I think, my 16th BRAG. I'm not sure how much advice I would have for first timers as we all do it a little differently according to our preferences and abilities. My best advice would be to relax and have a good time. Remember it is not a race, it's a vacation.
There is a lot of good information for newbies on the BRAG website. The Beginner's Guide is a good resource, as is the BRAG FAQs. If you have specific questions, the BRAG Message Board is a good place to get answers. Often several conflicting answers.
The tip about packing everything in ziplock bags is a good one. I put a day's riding clothes in a bag and a day's campsite clothing in a bag. Keeps everything dry in case your bag gets left in a puddle or out in a downpour and it makes it easy to find what you need.

I'd like to do brag, but I don't think I'm ready for it yet. Maybe next year.
Is the route very hilly? I still can't drag my fat tush up the Georgia hills.
