There are lots of places to ride.
Check out www.kybikerides.org. There's about every ride imaginable posted.
The Louisville Bike Club hosts rides every day. The "recovery" and "slow and easy" rides are a good place to start.
Southeast Christian Church hosts rides every other week or so during biking season.
My favorite is out Tucker Station Road to Rehl Road and English Station. Fairly light traffic except at 8 and 4 weekdays.

good to hear. i love riding, but anymore i'm doing 30 - 50 mi, and still expanding, on my days off and i can't find anyone down to ride with me that far on a regular basis. i enjoy riding alone, but when it's something that long i start to miss human interaction, if that makes sense.

I'm in Louisville and I ride when I can. Sometimes to work (downtown), but mostly in the evenings and on the weekends. I'm not doing 30-50 mi rides yet, but I would like to do some long rides. I ride almost exclusively by myself partly because I just don't know too many people to ride with, but mostly because I don't plan rides. I ride when I find time and feel like it. Club rides don't really interest me. I don't like the idea of cycling uniforms and I have no interest in racing.
I live in the Highlands and mostly ride through the neighborhoods, make a round or two through Cherokee Park, and downtown is cool in the evenings. I've been heading out about an hour before dusk and getting back in the dark lately (I recently had a wheel built with a dynamo hub) because it is so hot. I've enjoyed riding at night.
Vic from Vic's Classic Bikes told me that small group rides will be leaving from his shop (new location at 931 Baxter) at 9a on Sundays starting soon.
