Indeed. It is so clean. Cleave must never ride it.

He probably drives the bike to Starbucks for his posing.

Hi,

I don't pose at Starbucks because I don't drink coffee. :D

You MUST take all new bike photos before you ride it. :D

Our definitions of ding are miles apart.
That's more like a major dent.

I wouldn't ride it, the top tube is under compression and could fold like a Bud can at anytime. Turtle45 has a DENT much smaller than that BUT, it's in his down tube, and that's in tension, not compression and has held up well for quite a few thousand miles.

Again, I wouldn't ride it.

DaveSANYYZ 09-05-07 04:34 PM

Hmm, Pieralberto, how much do you need to pay for the replacement frame?

Luwin1026 09-05-07 04:37 PM

I think this is kinda cool -

But for $1699!! If it was $699, then I'd consider.

sweet wheels! Bontrager is coming out with a cheaper version with aluminum rims. They run about $1600. Much better for my budget!

My Record Carbon broke today. Seeing how these guys spell Thomson properly, I had to go with it. If I can just change my first name to Bianchi I would have a personalized bike. Hmmm, I will have to ponder that.

Arrived today (from eBay seller) and it is @$(#!$ fantastic. How come no one told me about Thomson seatposts earlier?

You mean you're not the founder & CEO of the Thomson company that made them?

Too bad they don't work for me; I need min 20mm setback to avoid leg cramps with my bike.

It isn't me but I am pretty sure it is a relative. As soon as I track him down and convince him I am his long lost nephew, it is free seatposts and stems for all!!

That is too bad, I just looked and the setbacks are 16mm. I have the zero setback. They are just so easy to setup. Nice workmanship. Much better than the Record carbon I had.

Two long valve Specialized tubes. (Don't want to carry short valve tubes as spares because a) they aren't long enough on my other wheelset and b) someone else might need the tube.) Extra wheel magnet so that I don't have to move the magnets around.

My next purchase? A valve extender. I like how the shorter valves look on my wheelset, but I can't pump them up with my floor pump. Argh. Happily, I can pump them up with my Topeak Road Morph in the meantime.

Bet that the michelins win if you're at all worried about puncture resistance. I thought the specialized had a little better road feel; however, the pr2s are on my bike now, and I've got a set in reserve for when those wear out.

My last purchase should show up tomorrow: a descente volem wind/rain resistant jacket from colorado cyclist (I'm getting prepped for winter).

Nah... I never flatted either in a few thousand miles of riding. So now I run Vittoria open tubulars, confident that the bike gods don't want me to flat. A thousand odd miles later, so far so good.

Are you running that cassette with Shimano? Ultegra?

How does it shift, especially on the 28? You're the first I've heard to install this new cassette, and in that it technically violates Shimano specs, would be interested in your shifting experience.

Mo'Phat 09-07-07 06:07 AM

I used to run a 28 on a compact crank with a short cage derailleur...Shimano still works. The distance from the 28 teeth to the first jockey pulley isn't all that much, but the chain still moves freely.

It's a dura ace rear deraillieur. It should be OK, I'll let you know.

FWIW, Specialized is putting this cassette on a lot of their 2008 models next year with a variety of different RDs (dura ace - 105) and the 9 speed version of the cassette on Tiagra models.

It's a great range for those moving from a triple to the compact. With the 11t gear, the 50-11 is bigger than a 52(or 53) / 12 and the 34/28 combo is pretty much the same as a 30/25.
