Well, we have been trying to get a maintenance party together for how long now?

Since I'm a lazy ass...can someone find me a seatpost with about 1/2" more setback than the Thomson...which is about 16mm.

All you brainiacs that can do metric conversion figure it out for me. You, in return, will recieve my silent appreciation.

GP 11-14-07 02:21 PM

0.5 inch = 12.7 millimeter

thomson: beautiful frame. I like blue too but the red looks fast.

DaveSANYYZ 11-14-07 02:28 PM

I was once looking into large setback seatposts. I believe Look has them but it'll be in carbon. Check ebay since they seem to be much cheaper there. :)

Mo'Phat 11-14-07 02:29 PM

Okay...someone find me a 28.7mm setback post.

I heard red was faster so I am giving it a shot.

Sweet. And if your wife gives you any lip, you can bring it over to my place and set it up on my stand...

If you can change spark plugs and route ignition cables in your car you'll have no trouble learning how to build a bike from the frame up....:D

You can only use Campy to build from the frame up. Shimano equipped bikes are extruded whole from giant blocks of cheese.

The Bianchi has some spider cracks under the bottom bracket. I want to strip it and just give the frame to the bike shop and let the warranty process occur. But I want to keep riding.

Jim,
This might be out of the topic, but how did you discover there were cracks @ bottom bracket? Did you found it by yourself or LBS.
This kinda reminds me that I should rountinely ck my gears.
Thanks

Hi Jim,

Did you get that off of ebay? I was thinking of getting it to replace my Look so that I'd have two Serottas. However, since I'm lusting after a Bianchi TT frame I didn't pull the PayPal trigger. ;)

Congratulations!

nesdog 11-14-07 04:54 PM

Speaking of Thomson's, just ordered an Elite seatpost for my Giant. This was so that I could get the micro-adjusting capability. It's so difficult to make small changes on the OEM post where I'm having to carefully change the seat angle by one notch and always---ALWAYS---having to re-do it.

Just got the order confirmation for these =]

Yeppers Cleave, eBay it is. There is a bike shop in Saratoga Springs NY that buys Serotta's previous years stuff as they roll out the new. I thought I would try titanium.

The micro adjust is worth it. It is just so simple. Good purchase.

I just looked at it. I happened to turn it over to clean (imagine that) and I saw these very small cracks. I marked the ends of them and will see if they grow as I ride it. They are not serious enough to not use. In fact, I really think it is just the paint but in case there is an underlying cause to the paint cracking, I will have it checked by Bianchi.

btw, when I said bottom bracket, I hope it was understood that it is the bottom bracket shell. Minor nit but just in case there was confusion.

:( That's the one that was just my size in their stock frames. The F3 fork that came with it is worth $700 by itself!

I'll be anxious to see it built up. :)

thomson: nice looking Serotta. I've developed a bit of a soft spot in my heart for red Serottas this past year.
