Do me a favor, Jeff...when you start buying all the miscellaneous SS/Fixie parts for that Nishiki...buy two of each, and I'll re-do my '80's Schwinn Supersport. I'll even get you a three-sizes-too-small green and black striped Izod shirt and some black corduroys...and a white belt.

I'm still trying to go through and see what I need vs want
Need: Tires n tubes (damn 27" buggers) Want: New bars, brake levers. Unsures: Not sure what I can do about these cranks, I can only remove the smaller ring, so I'll be rocking the 53T monster til I can find a replacment. I havn't counted the gearing in the back, but I'll break apart the cassette and use the largest gear in the back, I'm hoping it's a 25t, so at least the gear ratio won't kill me on the climbs. I'm gonna see if I can lower the stem ALOT, and seems the seat will have to come up about 2-3" to get the right leg extension. I'm gonna be riding HIGH!!!!! great news for those drafting off me:D I'm not sure how the high center of gravity is going to handle through the turns. Let me know what you need!!! I'm doing all my HW now and hope to order something in the next few days if I can't find it from the LBS around here. |

In regards to the MP3 players...I *still* don't have a proper one yet
I have this phone however: http://nacy.net/pictures/k700.jpg Sony-Ericsson K750. http://nacy.net/pictures/k750.jpg I just bought a 2GB memory card for it and viola its now my MP3 player. :D The great part is that the wired headset has dual earbuds to listen in stereo and if I get a call it will pause the music and start ringing like normal so I can take the call using the same headset. In something more bike related, I'm very close to buying this: http://nacy.net/pictures/r700.jpg Shimano R700 Compact Crankset. I'm going to order it from probikekit.com but I've been told that I should buy a new chain for it. Someone recommended a KMC chain but I have no idea which KMC chain I should buy, or even if I should spring for a Wipperman chain. I'll get around to posting in the Bicycle Mechanics section soon enough. |

Also got some new cork tape. I mounted the tires, and I can tell it's gonna be PITA if I get a flat:eek: I'm still confused on how to take apart the cassette on this and how to remove and if possible replace the sproket w/ a BMX style. This bike is prolly older then I am!!!!! |
Go to www.parktool.com and find the removal tool you need. It's probably not a cassette, but a freewheel that's threaded on to the hub. Look at the lockring (if there is one) and then look at the tools available. Performance should have the tool, or can special order it, if need be.
re: Ipods. The two I have (60gb Ipod...the black one) and a 4gb Nano were both given to me. If I had a choice, I'd have gotten something else. I used to have a Creative Zen Micro that I loved...but it is now relegated to nowheresville. |
