I have not heard of double wrapping.

But to address your concern, let me assure you of two things
  1. It is easier than you think
  2. Even if you goof, unwrap it and start over.

Take a look here to get started

Once I had 3 flats, and only 2 CO2 catridges. Good thing I was only a couple mile from home by then,
it was a quick walk!...

With the bracket the Road Morph pump comes with, you either zip tie it under the top tube or lose a water bottle cage.

However, i got lucky and had previously purchased a Blackburn Airstik (crappy pump, no, really it is). The bracket that comes with that pump lets you mount it under a water bottle cage and it holds the pump to the side as seen here:

I e-mailed blackburn afew hours ago to see if i can get my hands on another bracket so i can move my road morph between bikes easily. :) I also think there's other similar generic mounting brackets out there but i can't remember where to look...

Wrapping bar tape is pretty easy. Here's what I did the first time I wrapped bar tape. Unwrapped the old bar tape starting near the stem. Observed how the bar tape was wrapped. Reversed the process with the new tape. I found that the hardest part to intuit is that you have to keep the bar tape nicely stretched in order for it to look and feel nice and even. Oh, and making the bend from the drops to the tops took me a few attempts to get just right.

my cleats on my roadie shoes did NOT stay in place, they were all off, about 3 miles into my ride, I was feeling pain on the outside of my feet. Noticed when i took off the shoes that the cleats moved angle wise ALOT. Gonna try some lock tight tomorrow. One sided pedal entry is still new to me, I almost nutted the top tube clipping in cuz the carbon sole just slid over the backside of the pedal at a light.

I feel you, man. Having trouble getting used to the one-sided thing myself. kind of a pain in the butt.

Did you grease the bolts when you installed the cleats? I know that Speedplay recommends loctite for their cleats but most manufacturers just call for grease so you can tighten them down properly. I suppose either would work.

They feel OK as long as I keep taking the nasty pills. I'm not all that productive at work  Breathing deep is a problem.

I'm mainly bummed at all the great rides I am missing out on  I am missing my bike fix.

I just messed with those shoes, I added some blue locktight and cracked TWO cleats while tighten them down. Can't make it too tight or it will crack and if it's not tight enough they will move on the bike. I'll find out tomorrow afternoon if they move. I'm scared that I'll crack the only 2 I have left , I bought 2 sets of pedals so had a extra set of cleats, but not for that:(

OTOH your cheap @#$ pedals cost about the same as a pair of cleats for real pedals so you're still ahead of the game, sort of :D :D

jsigone 02-07-07 11:47 PM

yah the pedals are 22 bucks and they want 10 bucks fro replacment cleats. I read that wellgo and look cleats are darn near the same, so if it comes down to it, I'll get the better made cleats. Thought it might just end up being relabeled at the end. I'm soooooo used to metal SPD cleats!!! ARGGGGG

Well, yes, but road cleats are so much larger, which can be very important

Why don't you just use SPD's then? I use SPD's on my road bike with no problems, plus I can walk around in the shoes a little, which is nice.

jschen 02-08-07 12:50 AM

Agreed that there's nothing wrong with SPD's on a roadie. I have SPD's on my Allez that I rode at the 200k brevet. Though the switch to road pedals at the time I got Vivian seemed to be a revelation, switching back and forth doesn't really do much for me now. Switch in either direction, and I need a few clip-ins to become reacquainted with a slightly different means of clipping in, but after that, it's all the same to me. I guess I've become a bit more stable out of the saddle, making the perceived advantages when I first switched less noticeable now. That said, I don't generate nearly enough torque to care much about how widely the pressures are distributed by a larger pedal/cleat interface.

I've been doing that for 2yrs, and recently started doing longer ride, on the longer ride, my knee start to hurt. I'm thinkin that the SPDs have too much float in them causing the pains around mile 50. I'm hoping that the roadie shoes have a bit tighter float then the SPDs and won't have any knee problems.

I didnt like em at first either, but it becomes easier.

If your cleat position isn't set precisely, having no float will make your knee pain worse.

these pedals I have have float in them, but different since the float is in the heal. My cleats moved on last nights ride, I can't really tell if it's better yet. Gonna take me a few rides to get them dialed in. I hope I have it all good by sunday if it doesn't rain.

What do you mean the float is in the heel?
