God, I've got to stay away from Surf City Cyclery :p I took my bike in for a couple of minor repairs/adjustments, and my old SL's with ~17,000 miles, needed a new cassette body and the rims were getting dangerously thin, so I left with a new pair of ES's:D

Yeah, that place is dangerous! :p

I was doing good, I hadn't gone in there for about two months, until today. At least I didn't leave with a time trial bike :p That will be my next visit

Oooh! Oooh! Which one?

I dunno, I haven't really looked at them. Maybe a Felt or Giant, or maybe the unreasonable side of me will take over, and I'll wind up with a P3:eek:

The Giants are pricey. Just split the difference and get a P2C. Only $2000 for the frame. :D

I use mine as my back ups :p

Yes, these will be the daily drivers, unless it's wet out, and I'm not too lazy to switch them.

Is that typical? Should I be budgeting to replace my wheels after 15k-20k? I hadn't really ever thought of the rim walls getting thin from brake wear. I would have guessed much higher miles before that happened.

I think it would depend on the terrain you ride, and how well you take care of things. Keeping your pads and rim surface clean of road grime, probably helps rim life greatly. My SL's aren't worn to the point where they had to be replaced, but the mechanic was showing me the wear on them, and it looked like something that might end up like Fixer's Ambrosio rim that he blew, not long ago. I'll keep them around for spares. My guess is that properly taken care of rims would last up to 30k miles? I also have the option of sending the wheels to Mavic, and just having the rims replaced, but I require instant gratification

You're right, it would match perfectly. And such a bargain compared to the P3!

Good plan. Would I make enough to buy my own P2C? Either color would match my kit.

I'm hoping to steal away for a few hours tomorrow to head down to Surf City to check out the shop as well as pick up another Toupe Team - hope I don't end up walking out with more . . .

I love girls. The graying of my hair tends to attract young girls wherever I go.
