Hey Mark. I e-mailed a few of the regulars, and I think we're going for it. We'll do the eastern route, though, out to Montrose and back. See you there?

Umm...we'll see. I'll plan on it, however, the Agua Dulce fire is knocking on the door of my neighborhood. Helicopters/planes are flying over my house about every 30-40 seconds. I live in a big neighborhood (lotsa houses) so I think they'll probably do whatever they need to and put it out. We'll see.

The club ride schedule for Saturday features 2 rides into the Santa Clarita fire area.
Gee, prolly not a great idea.

Parts of the Santa Monicas will likely be closed as well.

Anybody got any great ideas for an alternative?

I don't like the Castaic Lake route anyway.

How do you get to the start of the PV ride and when do we start?

Thanks. You're such a sweety. I like to know the route so I can tell people to go on without me if I get tired, get a flat, or get attacked by wild animals.

The only thing you need to worry about is getting lost, so bring a map! And animals? Don't worry about those creepy jungle-monkey calls. They're just the hormonal peacocks looking for love!

EDIT: If you want to hammer, the Donut Ride goes off at 8 o'clock.

I think I'm actually going to join Joy on the PV Loop, depending on the smoke of course. I also invited my wife's uncle to come along, seeing as he lives in Torrance. 40 miles will be a "short" ride for him.

Uncle says he can probably make it to the PV Loop. He also suggested adding Corownview from PV Drive for a nice climb. Anyone interested in that?

Hhmmm...I'm seriously tempted. I ended up taking this week completely off. I'm thinking I should also take next week off as well, but...that's hard. Of course, AJ doesn't quite understand about rest/recovery and was a little depressed we weren't out riding. This just off his longest ride ever: 55-miles at the Antelope Valley Metric!! (in brutal headwinds, I might add)

I'll have to look at my schedule and see.

Where are they starting? I think I will climb up 33 to Pine Mtn and back with Laura.

They usually start near Grant Park in Ventura, out to [edit] Lake Casitas, up to SB, sometimes Hope Ranch, then down PCH.

It's a Joy ride alright, but she said 6:45/7:00. If you want to join, I'll carpool with you. I might be adding a climb with my uncle, which I think will bring it to about 45-50 miles.

Castaic, or Capenteria? It's a long way from Ventura to Castaic, back to Santa Barbara, and then Ventura.

Edit: I guess Casitas is another option.
