Vegas was cool. Not too large of a crowd but I was annoyed how fast the "good seats" filled up early. They need more grand stands. I think I'll end up doing Vegas again next year (if they do it again) because it seems like less people make the trek out there. The course isn't bad either. I just hope they can get more race series to show up... but then again that will attract more people

Chucklehead 04-15-07 12:53 PM

yeah, i think they were concerned that there wouldn't be a huge crowd, so they didn't put up too many grandstands. i think after the rave reviews that the drivers gave the track, they'll probably be able to attract more series next year.

long beach is awesome this year. the addition of ALMS to the menu was definitely a great move. if they can consistently draw these kinds of crowds, it will end-up really helping champcar in the long run if they can do more events together.

Wow, Trac. I just peeked in here. NICE! Maybe I'll bring the mtn bike up when I come in May. I don't know if my rack can handle both bikes, but if so, I wouldn't mind checking that trail out. :)

Pretty cool huh? :p Unfortunately its up at my house and I don't think you're gonna want to drive all the way here just to do a 10 mile trail ;) However, there are lots of trails down in SJ/Morgan Hill area that you'll be comfortable with :p

Wow...looks technical...did you ride across those wooden planks?

tprevost 04-16-07 02:51 PM

no technical stuff whatsoever... see that road Wayne is on? That's how it was the whole way... we went down to where the water was but didn't go across... lots more exploring to do though ;) I just didn't want to get lost out in the boonies my first time out :p so I figured we should stick w/the obvious!

its a water flume (I think that's what its called  ) down at the bottom of a side trail... pretty much fire road to that point. I think there is a single track around the lake but I need to get a better idea of where it is/goes before I attempt it! :p

Mo'Phat 04-16-07 03:53 PM

Weird...I didn't even notice the water until you said it was a flume. I thought it was some crazy trials obstacle or something...hence herb asking whether you rode it or not.

it was really pretty darned cool! It did actually look like there might be a trail off the other side (there is a staircase going down and then a bridge over the water) but I wasn't ready to trapse down the staircase :p

Yesterday, a fellow roadie and I shot the Div II regional championship rugby match between LMU and UC Irvine.

Yes, but not really. Note that it is a "club sport" and not an official university-sponsored sport.

I'm not at all interested in Rugby, but those pictures really turned out well. The surfing one's were great also. (That's all I had time to look at, being at 'work' and all.) I really need to practice more. No matter how fancy a camera I use, my pictures always look like they came from a drug store disposable camera...
