get a magic marker, connect the dots in their order of appearance, then see if it makes some sort of magic picture that sends you some sort of message.

Okay, so I did what you suggested, and it reads "yletaidemmi pleh kees" I don't see a message in that Chris! Just jibberish. Sheesh!

Don't be silly, "yletaidemmi pleh kees" is Yiddish for 'Corn Chowder Armpits'.

Hold your inflamed parts up to a mirror, then seek help immediately.

She is so sweet. Tell her, it is still non-impressive. And the bumps are clearing up, too!

shingles

I got sunburn on my forehead recently and it turned into shingles after a long week of training and non-bike related stress. My dermatologist started me on an antiviral w/in 72 hours of the bumps apearing and I feel o.k. I am taking one week off the bike to be safe and rest up but I was wondering if you or anyone here has thoughts or ideas on how long it is safe to go back to bigger miles/long weeks-for me averaging 12/17 hrs a week w/ at least one 200k ride a week.... Any ideas are appreciated since I canot find anything on the web about shingles and longer distance cycling. ( BTW- my doc said it would be fine as long as I feel o.k.)

Grateful,
Dave

Wow, Dave. Sorry to hear. A relative of mine had shingles and suffered badly. Hopefully, your bout will be easier. In terms of exercising, I was under the impression that it is okay as long as you can stand it, but long distance riding in the sun may push it. Please talk to your doctor again and really ensure he/she understands how long you are riding and in what conditions so that he/she can advise you appropriately. Get well soon!

Thanks ME

Yeah- I mentioned I was riding PBP-760 miles or so at a go in 6 weeks and he said o.k. but maybe he didn't really understand??? Also- I mentioned my average training ride was about 100k to 80 miles and he said start around 50 at first and then progressively go up as long as I feel o.k. The sunburn connection stinks because it was only one tiny patch on my forehead that I forgot to put 45 SPF on-oh well- c'est la vie. Thanks for your support !
Dave

Well, given the amount of riding you are doing, one would assume you are tough and in great shape. Unfortunately, shingles is one of those odd conditions that is definitely stress triggered. Tearing your body down during training may exacerbate it, but then again, if your doctor says go for it, you may work it out of your system! Good luck on PBP - impressive! I hope you'll post a ride report when done.
