My new balaclava notwithstanding, I think we'll probably wind up skipping this one.

Damn weather.

I hope this gets rescheduled. Please?

Yeah, I guess it's time to pull the plug on this one. The scenery and pie aren't special when you're cold, wet and miserable.

What day is good for rescheduling? I'm free most Saturdays and every Sunday.

Wusses! You blinked first! Neener neener!

Now what am I going to do with the wool socks, PI leg warmers, glove liners, and fleece cap I bought for this ride?

Feb 10th, 17th or 24th would work for me.

Build a bonfire, throw all your winter clothing into it and do a naked rain dance.

How do you make a poll?

I'm sure everyone thanks you for placing that image in their heads.

When you create a new thread scroll to the bottom and check the poll option. After completing the 1st post it will take you to a secondary screen where you can fill in the poll question and response options.

Sundays are better for us, but for this ride, either day is good.

Damn weather.

Heavy rain and high winds? Even I'm not stupid enough to ride the Pie Ride under those conditions.

sun is out here in Esco right now, another 30 mins and should be dry enough to ride w/o having to wash the bike too much

I'm so worried that I'll get soaked by heavy rain and struck by lightning with the few heavy clouds and the shinning sun in the sky.

Been raining pretty good here for the past couple of hours.

The wind is picking up now.

I drove to San Marcos this morning and it looked cloudy or stormy further east. Cancelling the ride was good for me - I'm sick and would have been miserable no matter what the weather.

Sunny and strong winds in UTC. Seems like it's heading down I guess. I guess I'll just call it a shopping day and ride my trainer later on tonight.

Get well soon, Frank. Supposed to be sunny starting Tues, if the weather report is correct.

Vance, do you an online calculator to figure out the gradient? If so, please provide the link.

Grazie.

Feet / (miles * 5280) gets you close

1300/(9*5280) = 2.73%

(The reason I say close is the miles is generally given as the hypotenuse and it should be the adjacent. At these distances and angles, the difference is negligible.)

The calculation is:

(vertical rise)/(horizontal run) *100.

So (1300 ft)/(9 miles * 5280 ft/mi) * 100 = 2.73%.

EDIT: thomson wins!
