Dammit. LA and Murrieta are the same weekend. I wonder if that will cut into the Murrieta field size.

Ain't no way I'm driving up to LA when there's a perfectly good race down here. Two of 'em.

That schedule is not finalized. More races will be added, and some will move to different dates because of conflicts. As of now, I am gearing up to get ready for that road race in sb.

I guess I'd better look, since I've told myself I'm purchasing a license this season.

and that there is a road race the day before only a few miles away. Going to be a great weekend.

I want more info on the Ventura stage race, I can't wait to see what is going on there.

I didn't even see that. Do you know anything about it?

Hi,

I had a draft of the schedule from last week's annual scheduling meeting which was held at Wild Rivers in Irvine. My first time to the meeting and it was "interesting" to say the least.

Still too many conflicts and too many races too early in the season. When I was a punk Cat. 3 the racing season ended at the end of September in Solvang. Now there's fewer races in August and the road season is over by Labor Day.

My club is supposed to take one of the LAVRA dates at the ADT Event Center (velodrome) but I may have to work on doing something in August or September.

All these events have my head spinning. I know I'll run at least 2 Ontario's. I don't know how some people do 20+ of these a year.

I picked out a tentative schedule. I'm sure it will change a lot, especially once I see the NCNCA schedule, which usually has more road races which I prefer.

UCSB team is putting it on, i believe its some sort of fundraiser. Danny showed me the potential route, it may end on Tempesquet if the route works out. They don't have it locked down yet, but it should be a fair ammount of climbing. I think he said something about going from an Edison station on Zaca Station or Zaca Canyon, then heading up Foxen till Tempesquet. It may be an out and back, this route may be reveresed, and it may be nothing at all like what I just described.

I did it this year, the course wasn't bad. Two long straights, one fairly tight downhill u turn, and one uphill u-turn with a chicane in it. Fairly good pavement. The course, especially the downhill u-turn, scared me at first, but my race got through it without incident. Can't say the same for the Men's 3 field though.

I highly doubt either the UCLA or UCSB road race will be open to non-collegiate. I wish SCNCA would clarify that on the schedule, but they did the same thing last year.
Whats the deal with the triathlon?!

^^^ Cat4, right? That was a fun race. Still a bit pissed that I blew it as bad as I did. I wanted that one bad. Not bad enough, I guess.

I was wondering about that, but for ucla it said uscf... So I thought the ucsb one might be also, especially if it was taking over the regular uscf sisquoc road race. Oh well, wishfull thinking.

No, that was Manhattan Beach. I screwed that one up, too, though not nearly as bad. At least I got 2nd. I was shooting for at least a podium at San Pedro and let too many guys get by me in the last corner. I felt so dumb when I crossed the line 10th after what had been tactically a great race for me.

20? As it looks right now, between all the races both domestic and international, I am looking at around 35 events I think between january and november. Ha, can we say overtrained?

Yeah, I blew that one too, a teammate and myself ended up TT'ing off the back up to 1 to go before we pulled ourselves.
I was kind of pissed I let it go, but was comforted by my performance the day before. Taking second on that crazy hilly La Mirada crit/circuit race was my best result of the season. God that race hurt.

Well next year for me its:

Surf City Marathon Feb 1
Ontario Crit Feb 22
Baker to Vegas March 15
Mulholland Challlenge April ?
Breathless Agony May ?
Heartbreak Hundred May ?
Ontario Crit July
Ontario Crit August
Mt. Whitney Hike
EC September

Some of these aren't cycling events, and I can tell it will effect my riding as I can't train as much as I should. However I did tell myself I'd finish a Marathon before I died, and me and a friend plan on hiking Whitney. In '10 I'll probably do more.

Hopefully they will modify Boulevard RR. Starting a race as sun was coming out, really really really sucked. I couldn't feel my feet or my fingers for entire race. I don't see any reason why they need to wait for one category to finish before starting another. It's a road race! Every other one I did start times were just staggered.

I loved La Mirada. I didn't realize you'd done so well. Good job.
Felt awesome going into the closing laps until I got caught in that crash on the back part of the course that took out the front 1/3 of the pack. Such a fun race until that point, though. I think I was the only rider who didn't have some kind of injury, any I could easily have gotten back on and finished, but I was a little worried about the dude I had landed on and rubbed into the asphalt.

I liked La Mirada last year, but this year my car tire blew out on my way there and I missed it dealing with getting it fixed
