GMR Fun (11/5)

So THAAAAANKS to Alyce we hit up GMR again ha ha! We had a nice easy ride planned but Alyce asks the question last night, "we doing GMR?" Ha ha, there goes our nice ride and now Gina's got to work on the ride. Funny but out of all the riders I know, Alyce is one of the only riders that ASKS for GMR by name ha ha! Cool though, if it weren't for Alyce, we would have been slackers today!

So our plan was to do GMR on Sunday but the rain forecast changed that, Alyce asked so we hit GMR. A few short notice invites to those who had been interested in GMR. So we connect again with Raphael and Jessa. I am a little confused cause last time we met, they had different names ha ha! Bu they did bring their buddy Dave to the ride. Another invite to JeepSeaHawk of the forums so he was along for the ride.

Figuring R$J were double century riders, my plan was to hang for a while then drop back for Gina. But the whole group was cool. They stuck to our plan so we were able to stay together as a group for pretty much most of the ride. all did very well on the climb including Jessa who has a remarkable story. Wow, the things people overcome!

At the start we caught a glimpse of GMR and Matt heading up. Seemed to be in a hurry but we got in a quick wave. Later we run into Mr GMR at a turnout. Short chat then he was on his way. Always nice to see Bill! Ron on his hybrid rolls up to the shack as we hang around. He keeps eyeballin' the bikes saying they look familiar as if he'd seen them on a site or blog. Nah, not my bike ha ha! We chat for a bit then he continues on to the village.

At the end of the ride, we figure a quick plan for some eats. Hey, what about the rib and chicken joint I mentioned earlier in my post? It was on and we hit up the $5.50 special. I think just about everybody was happy with the meal.

But it was the cycling stories after the meal that were entertaining. Wow, Raphael and Dave are evil ha ha! Some great funny stories and lots of loud laughs going on. Some good stuff, we arrived at the rib joint about 1:30 and didn't leave till nearly 4:00. Like I said, Raphael and Dave are evil ha ha! Great stories! Jessa? Wow, nice lady, very pleasant, sweet but yet a darn good rider. Lots of fun today!

Lots of pics in the blog if interested

Yup, growing! I'm still amazed that out of all our friends, Alyce is the one rider that keep asking for more. Heck, even my tough guy MTB friends refuse the GMR invites ...............

I would never refuse a GMR/GRR invite and I'm not even as tough as the MTB friends of Beanz!

Yeah, you're nuts! Do GMR to the village the day after a century!

BTW, Sunday Dec 4, I am planning to ride to the village with Raphael, Dave and Jessa. R &D are riding from Riverside, Jessa and I meeting them there then we are riding to the village.

Nothing too fast, steady LD ride for R&D. You might think about doing this one as a good social ride.

That is if it doesn't rain!

Okay, thanks Beanz, sounds good. I'll try to get some of my friends to ride too. Sunday is best because Missy at the Village Lodge bakes a pan of the World's Best Cinnamon Rolls every Sunday.

No go in rain is good too. We've been there, done that, not much fun (but makes great stories for years after!). Remember the girl in shorts and jersey @ 37 deg.F in the rain? Thankfully Gina gave her a ride back in your truck (probably heater on full-blast).

................and my dry clothes! I froze on the way home.

Honestly though, gal was about 4'10 and 90 lbs, shorts and a "sleeveless" jersey! I'd say she needed it more than I did.

Could be fun but I don't want to call it and can't be responsible for support this time. Maybe a "free for all" that way if the Genaro stud muffins show up, it's understood everyone is on their own.

Gina ran into a major car issue so I'm cutting back on truck mileage till she can get a new car.

OK Beanz, if you don't want to call it, then I will. The service and support on your rides have been going to the dogs lately anyway. You know - driving your little truck around with a few spare tubes and offering free sandwiches and Gatorade to the riders simply doesn't cut it anymore.
I'll set up the ride but first I'll talk to God to secure perfect weather on that day (sunny, low 70s, tail wind there and back). Then, given the NBA lockout, I'll invite the Lakers and Clippers cheerleaders to cheer you on the hardest parts of the climb. Then I'll have a professional crew from Universal Studios to film the event in HD, so you don't have to carry your crappy little camera around. And of course I'll sag the ride in a beer truck. Are you in?
