"Normal" Bike Shop in Brea Area

A friend of mine lives in Brea and needs to have some work done on her bike. I don't live there, but I have heard of a couple high-end bike shops in that area. However, she has a simple cruiser style bike and those shops are probably more sophisticated and expensive than what she needs.

Can anyone recommend a simple, basic bike shop in the Brea area?

Thanks!

Try Google and call the shops to see what they can do for her.

Sure, a Google search is good in many cases. However, in this case I would really appreciate a recommendation from someone who is into bikes and has actually been to a shop.

Both my son and I have had problems with Jax in Fullerton and Jax in Yorba Linda. I wouldn't use them.

There used to be a shop called Two Wheeler Dealer in Brea, they came highly recommended. The shop-formerly-known-as-Bannings Bikes in Fullerton always treated me well. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, I *highly* recommend Whittier Cyclery in Whittier... they've never done me wrong and I've hit them up with some weird stuff.

I'd go to two wheeler dealer.

Whittier Cyclery is fine.

La Habra cyclery is also pretty good (on Harbor Blvd).

Don't be thrown off by the "high end" feel of any bike shops - there's very little in the market between Wal Mart and High end... so the high end shops handle most of that kind of stuff. REI wouldn't be a bad choice either if there's one out there, I'm not sure.

I agree with TrojanHorse, Two Wheeler Dealer would be my first choice, but only slightly above Whittier Cyclery.

Bannings is a bit more high-end then either of the above (and recently changed names to East-West) so for Brea specific I'd say Two Wheeler Dealer. Talk to Beatrice or Ed!

I forgot about La Habra Cyclery. I live mid-way between them and Whittier Cyclery and I always default to Whittier.

Two Wheeler Dealer at the corner of Randolph and Imperial Hwy. They are small independent shop that's been in business for 30 years. They've never upsold me on anything and Ed is a sharp mechanic. In fact, I just called today about some non-functioning rapidfire shifters and he told me how to remedy them without coming in!

As for labor they've done for me: full tune ups on 2 road bikes, full tune on a FS mtn bike, and converted my daughter's bike to quick release axles/skewers. She'll be real happy doing business with them.

Two Wheeler Dealer on Imperial Hwy has always been a good shop. Small enough to give good service and big enough to give good discounts.

I really don't believe there are any good shops in the Brea area but I have a suggestion for a shop even my mechanic boyfriend likes, Jenson USA in Corona. It's not all that far from Brea nd well worth the 15 min. drive down the 91 freeway.

I have purchased several bikes (my BF at least 10!) from Two Wheeler Dealer and at one time it was my shop of choice but since Sam sold out... it's gone down; way downhill...but if your GF just needs a simple tuneup it may be OK.

There's no such thing as a 15 min. drive on the 91 in either direction at any time of day... IMHO.

But, if you're driving on the 91, there's also Rock N Road Cyclery just off Imperial at the 91. They're a specialized concept shop but the store manager has been good to me, advice wise.

.
That's a good point. I could do Brea to Corona in 15 minutes at 1AM. At 100 mph.

Of course it's possible to make a 15-minute drive on the 91! What's questionable is how far you'll get.

Maybe two exits, tops

I'm glad I don't have to drive on the 91 parking lot as often as other people I know.

I drive from Tustin to Corona all the time. For me it's 25 minutes drive using the toll road. I am not suggesting she go there at 5pm on a weeknight but on the weekend or during the day or in the morning on a weekday its an easy 15 minutes drive. Obviously you don't get out much.

I must not. I didn't know that Tustin and Brea were in the same spot.

The two best bike shops in Brea area would be:

Fullerton Bikes
424 East Commonwealth Avenue
Fullerton, CA 92832

(714) 879-8310

La Habra Cyclery
451 North Harbor Boulevard
La Habra, CA 90631

(562) 691-7118
