Mt Baldy
Hi Everyone
Going to be in LA in couple of weeks, I want to do the Mt Baldy climb. Where is a good place to stay for an out and back, hotel wise?
Thanks

If you want to be able to ride from your room on up to GMR, without a lengthy "warm up" there is a Best Western Route 66 in Glendora that is a short ride away from the base of the mountain (and it's located right near Donut Man - which you will appreciate more after your ride in the hills. Although most of their famous donuts will be sold out before you get back) or there is a Holiday Inn Express in San Dimas which is also a short ride to GMR. Or if you want to ride up Mt. Baldy side, there's a Sheraton at the Fairplex in Pomona (easy ride to Baldy road) or Double Tree in Claremont, which is located right next to Mills Road, which takes you up to Baldy. None of these hotels are St. Regis level, but they are all decent. Claremont area is probably the nicest of these areas due to the colleges and restaurants etc.

Be sure to carry plenty of water on your ride. It's supposed to be in the 100s this weekend.

There is a bike shop that's about 3 miles from the start of Glendora Mountain Road. Good shop. And that's where some riders begin to get that "warm up". I parked in their lot for the ride up before. They don't open early and I suppose you want an early start to beat the heat. There's some hotels near there and even an extended stay place. Call them.

Yes, incycle is a good shop, if anybody is interested, they are having an "everything must go sale" starting Thursday, they're moving to a bigger building soon
