Disc conversion; Need-to-knows?

I have a threaded non drive side 26" wheel on a Trek T900 and I'm considering a cable pull disc...
Basically: What do I need to know?
I have road Brifters that I'm about to install and the frame is set up for V-Brakes (Or cantis, but I don't like them too much) but has the mounts for disc (See pics)
I gather I need a large disc for tandem use? What diameter are we talking?
Standard cable outers?
I assume there are a variety of screw-on plates to mount the disc to the wheel?
Any info or useful link will be much appreciated

These will work with cable disc brakes. Make sure you choose "standard pull" cable disc calipers.

Yes, 203mm Front, 180mm rear (or larger).

Find "compressionless" brake housing. Brands have been mentioned here before.

No, there are not, that I'm aware of. Hub drum brake threads are not necessarily designed for high disc braking torque loads, especially what a tandem generates. I don't think an adapter is readily available.
So what about your front wheel? No threads, so you'll need a disc-specific F wheel as it is.

Basically, ideally you want a new wheelset with disc hubs and large rotors. (Your frame & fork will determine the largest size you can use.) Alternatively, have new hubs & spokes used to build to your existing rims (if good quality). But a wheelset may be cheaper; hard part is finding a 26" wheelset with TANDEM rear spacing.
Rear dropout dimension? This determines your wheel options, which will be limited.
Disc brake calipers with pads.
Compressionless housing and a rear tandem brake cable. (front only needs a standard length, obviously.)
