I will probably rolling out to my parents place in Cypress via bike probably after work tonight. I figure the bike is the perfect post hurricane transport no gas or roads needed.

Last Hurricane I encountered up close and personal was Emily in 2005, I was in Cozumel when
she visited. She was not very nice.
If Ike lives up to expectations we (DFW area and east) could possibly see a CAT1 hurricane
up here (if he's strong 3 or moderate 4 when he makes landfall).

As a Native Texan/Houstonian now living in GA. You guys get the H*** out of there. That's a bad ***** storm coming your way. According to the projected path, Houston/Galveston/Baytown & etc. will be on the nasty side.

Yep, I got spare tubes for the fat-tire Rivendell Canti-Rom, plus patches and a frame pump. I figure a fat-tire road/general-purpose bike to be a bit better than a knobby-tire MTB, though I have one of those, too.

Actually plans changed will be staying at my sisters near the greenway/west u area, I will be rolling with my 38's touring tires got lots of tubes and patches. I already have panniers packed and ready to roll. Though I don't get off work until late tonight. I thought about putting on my cross tires with knobbies but they offer no real flat protection unlike my touring tires.

I'm still hoping that with Ike's storm track going more to the east, we'll be able to get the Tour de Florence in (near Georgetown) on Saturday. Probably not, but who knows?

Well, poo; my agency decided to cancel days off, and increase the length of the shifts. I just got off work at 0600 this morning, and have to be back at 2 PM, supposedly to work until 0600, but likely to have to stay longer. The pooches will not appreciate being kenneled up (indoors) for 17 to 20+ hours. I may stash a couple of the smaller pooches at my in-law's place in my patrol area.
