Anyone know the route that is called the TNT, that runs from Allen into Lucas and beyond. I had to turn around, ran low on water. If anyone can give me any kind of information on this route, it would be greatly appreciated.

I see TNT painted on a lot of surfaces when I'm riding - MUP's and roads. What's it mean?

TNT = Team In Training... Yes I know but who would join a team called the TITs?

Anyway, it's the Leukemia Society bike-at-thon club type thing. Neon green jerseys, very beginner friendly, etc.

When you see TNT on a route, it just means somebody has come along and put paint on a road that bikers have been pedaling for years. It's also a warning to watch out for wobbly ladies on hybrids.

On a more serious note, the route you probably found is variously known as the Fruit Loop, the Fruit Stand, etc. because of the old style country fruit stand / farmer's stand in Fairview. Those roads are some of the few "rural" roads left in the area, but no fear, they'll soon be covered in subdivisions, too.

I live right off of this route and regularly ride portions of it. Great route.

I see this "TNT" everywhere. It's spray painted on the Trinity River trail in Ft Worth, It's painted on some of the rural roads North of me around Argyle and Denton, and I've seen it other places, too.

BTW, have you ever seen that old road that runs SW to NE, and it crosses 380 between McKinney and Princeton? It doesn't really cross anymore, but it's still there. You can notice it on the South side of 380 when you're going East bound, a little bit of aspjalt left out in a pasture. That old road was how you got to Bonham back in the old days (so I've been told by some of the old timers in that area). Back in the Bonnie & Clyde days.

Yeah, I know that road, have wondered about it too. Reminds me of driving 75 / 69 North thru Oklahoma, and seeing old sections of Route 66 off to the side.

Yep, the TNTs are everywhere with their paint. As a grouchy old roadie, I roll my eyes a bit... how hard is it to follow a map or cue sheet? But OTOH, they bring a lot a newbies in and help get them past the hardest part of the learning curve.
