txvintage, take a look at this route, it goes through your neck of the woods. See if I'm plotting a safe route for us, and perhaps you could meet us or at least wave as we roll through town:

https://www.mapmyride.com/route/us/tx...24494651781332

Anyone a premium member of mapmyride who can snag the PDF for printing? I'll likely pay the $2.00 if this is the final route, but if I can safe the cost it would be welcomed.

Jtgyk - thanks for the PDF. Tailchaser hooked me up last night so I've already got a set of maps and cue sheets printed and ready to go. And yes, weather is looking better, now if only that humidity would drop a little!

Good ride, turn out was a bit lower than expected and we lost one rider with a mechanical, and nearly a second.

ARgggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You rode within 100 yards, probably less, of my house! Argggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alas, I was in Richardson and out to breakfast with the out of town family members. I was thrilled to learn they had reserved a shuttle, so only one trip to the airport was rewuired.

And yep, I ride pretty much all of that route regularly except the part right by your house and the park. Great roads for the most part, but sometimes a little bumpy.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't see the post but I had around 25 people at the house and didn't get to surf the forum last night.

Just letting everyone know I'm still alive.
I missed the turn onto Los Rios and instead of backtracking just took Jupiter on down to E Park & on in to Wylie. Did a couple of loops on Ballard, but assumed you guys had gone ahead. Cut back up Country Club to park and did the route back from Dublin on.

Missed another turn off of S Allen Heights and wound up going all the way to Stacy. Finally backtracked to Exchange and made my way to the park.

Aren't you glad there were no other B riders for me to lose?

Glad to see you made it in. We had a fairly lengthy rest stop in Wylie just north of the downtown strip. I would have avoided Country Club, but glad you made the trek without problems. Sorry there wasn't more 'B' riders for you to drag around the country side. From the sound of the posts before this morning it sounded like there would have been at least a couple more.

Coutry Club = Death Wish

I avoid it with the exception of the little dog leg on Parker. I wish it were safer because it is nice out on the back side of the lake and out to the airport.

I find it's easier to deal with traffic when you're hot tired and just don't care anymore.

It was just after this section that I developed the nasty pain in the ball of my left foot.

"You wanna hit me********** FINE BY ME!"
mostly they just left me alone. Only got buzzed once and that was on E Park on a 2 lane.

EDIT: I just re read this posting this morning...It sounded more negative than slightly amused (added the smilies for emphasis.

In all, I really enjoyed the ride and meeting some of you from the forum.
For those that didn't make it, you need to come out and play next time!

ANOTHER EDIT: If you come out to ride with the slower group....I'm probably NOT the guy to rely on for the navigation. Hmmm....maybe I really "need" that Garmin with mapping capability I've been talking myself out of......

Not sure when the next one is but I guarandamntee that I won't have loose crank or other
mechanical. Can't believe I drove like a maniac from Frisco only to pack it in after 2 or 3 blocks.

That's why I grabbed the tourer instead of the lighter, faster roadbike. I'm paranoid if I haven't checked what I'm riding within the last few weeks.

Of course, I'm going out for a ride said road bike this morning to check it out for the next ride...

I zoned out and slept late Sunday. Totally forgot about this ride. I can't believe it. Put in 25 miles on a good ride Saturday AM. Still can't believe I forgot.

oversleeping is better than showing up and having a mechanical in the first 3 blocks. . .

As for the Garmin/HAL comments reminds me of the ER episode with the couple fished out
of Lake Michigan.
ER Staff: "Why'd you drive into the lake"
Patient: "The GPS unit said to turn right. . ."
